Eurovision 2025

Probably not what the likes of SVP envision?
Anyway, google Nemo Mettler. He seems like a nice guy and a decent singer. ( I already feel bad I mentioned the gender neutrality/preferred pronouns thing) Leben und leben lassen

OK. I am sure Greta and 99% of the anti-Israel protesters were not aware of any of this.

Here you go.

I expected typical pop chord progressions to be more prominent. But no, so not an earworm
thankfully  Anyway, this is TV and it should look great of a big screen.

I finally understood why everyone was discussing venues in Switzerland. This will be more entertaining than the song contest  SRG to host ESC in Switzerland: politicians argue about show costs - 20 Minuten

I think in this case they have voted exactly for performance, although under other circumstances some of Ukrainians could have chosen to vote politically instead and support Israel.

There are many things that influence voting. The funny thing is that the jury from Croatia was the only jury that gave 0 points to Switzerland (the rest gave us from 5 to 12 points). To me it’s a clear sign that it was done in order to help their performer in the competition with ours for the prise, because two of them were the most likely winners. Croatian televoters gave Switzerland 1 point (only Israel got less from them).

Swiss jury gave Croatia 8 points and the audience gave 10 points.

To me it’s an earworm. It is being played in my head for a few days non stop.

Yeah, it’s kind of catchy
and he’s sweet.

I felt sorry for the Israeli singer
after all what happens in Gaza it’s not her fault. I don’t remember any other singer being treated like that before.

Er
TIEV - This is Eurovision. This is no different than voting over the decades since Lys Assia won in Lugano.

Yep and bidding is already getting underway to host it next year.

Palexpo, or the Arena, is a very very stupid idea. With the Security requirements and them sitting over the motorway to the airport (500m away) they would cause chaos.

I’ve changed my mind, put them in the Hallenstadian.

I think only the Hallenstadion can do it, given the size and the security level that is needed. Yes, if you have places in the back it’s not that good, judging by a few concerts I’ve been to but I don’t think people who want to be there for Eurovision care that much. Just imagine this show is so important that some countries have to actually build a proper concert hall or facility if they win the big prize at Eurovision.
It’s about exposure as a country, that’s why everyone wants to win.
Yeah, it’s only the old annoying “hype” for the more privileged ones that not only won a few times in the past, but also organised a few contests.
It brings tourists and money - not something that Switzerland really needed but what they can do? :joy:
Switzerland is already at the centre of a few popular music festivals (on the French side), the world economic forum (as useful as Eurovision but hey ho), you name it. I think they can deal with it

Yabut, we don’t have time for all the votes that would be required. :scream:

I don’t think your opinion will count as much as you think it will, bowlies.
For instance nobody asked me if I agree with the street resurfacing they seemed to do every few years in one of the places I live(d) here
I would have preferred they built a gymnasium instead!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

As the Eurovision Song Contest continues on its downward path from the sublime to the ridiculous, surely the time has come for the EBU to merge the Eurovision Song Contest with Eurotrash !!

Lets agree that this is merely your opinion, not a statement of fact. I personally enjoyed it for what it was, a glitzy music show. I voted for the Italians, but Nemo’s win is well deserved.

Looking forward to next one, you can continue simmering in hate and prejudices

Can you please stop poluting every thread with your personal political biases and hatred? Australia is also part of the event, something that just makes the whole thing even more diverse, interesting and global

The mayor of Bienne would like the next event to be hosted by them, but I don’t think Bienne has a big enough building to stage it in does it?

The Tissot arena is probably the best they’ve got in Bienne but it’s not really very big.

Ooh, that’s a blast from the past!

I see nothing wrong or prejudicial in expressing personal opinions that the Song Contest is bonkers, lets face it every TV show has it’s fans & critics & long may this continue in a free world.
For example I love The Monster Raving Looney Party ( founded by ‘Screaming’ Lord Sutch ) & love those British politicians ( from the Cons, Labour & LibDem party ) being upstaged by the Monster Raving Looney Party candidate waiting for the result; dressed as Batman, Robin, King Kong or Darth Vader, etc, as they wait for the Returning Officer to read out the result of the election.
Yes I love it but at the same time they’re bonkers !! Lol.

Same for some of the crazy Eurovision Song contestants acts, great laugh but OTT.
