Thanks for that, I’ve corrected it.
Oh gosh, sorry! It was only tongue-in-cheek.
Anyway, it’s all about Count Binface these days.
It’s funny you say that. The Swedish organisers had the courtesy to insert old songs during the broadcast of the event and I have to say most of them were cringey /infantile…at least for these times. Sublime? Why, because everything in the past was better?
Nah, I dont think so. And I bet older folks were equally scandalised about the “trashy” part back then too. Personally I find it amusing…but yeah, there’s a “trashy” side of the event, I’ll give you that.
Pls share an example of sublime
Thanks…
Maneskin have been quite impressive and successful once they won the Eurovision in 2021 and this is out of the top of my head as their fan. ABBA, Celine Dion, Conchita Wurst (only because he/she triggered so many people). Plenty of sublime moments
I’m expected to believe all the instruments being played on this video had a live mic connected to a mixing console which is the source of the music we listen to 50 years later.
Of course, the singing is the main part here. If every one plays by this rule, suspension of disbelief is achieved, and everyone can be happy with a very entertaining TV singing contest with lots of lights. From this perspective, it is sublime TV. For music, it’s something else…

Music has always been a multisensory experience. This is why some people perceive LP as superior. Because they “touch” the music too. A song at a live concert will almost always be sonically inferior to a carefully mastered studio recording and yet, the energy levels are incomparable. Neither is “better” or “worse”, they’re just different
I agree; in the past few years, it’s definitely Maneskin for me.
As for this year: as a Croatian, I was pleasantly surprised by the (relative) tastefulness of Baby Lasagna’s performance (unsurprisingly, he got my vote).
What does Maneskin do that T-rex didn’t do better 50 years ago?
“Better” in music is a useless term. Enjoy trex while allowing some of us to enjoy maneskin.
Maneskin are good but I think some folks here feel nostalgic for much older times…I had to look at the list with all the Eurovision winners and could actually recognise a few names there, apart from Abba obvs. (e.g. Johnny Logan or Toto Cutugno) …I can understand older generations have different preferences but times change…
Anyway…bottom line is - “sublime” can mean different things to different people. I guess for some it was (say) Lulu with “Boom bang-a-bang”! :grinning (Eurovision 1969, in case you wonder; I did have a bit of fun )
The decadence on display at Eurovison often has an interesting sort of ‘fall of Rome’ vibe to it.
I bet you’re fun at parties:)
The late Lord Sutch of Harrow was the neighbour of an artist acquaintance of mine. She said he was a bit eccentric but really nice, sadly never really got over the death of his mum.
Truly interesting how an Englishman will turn any conversation about some irrelevant English trivia when the discussion has absolutely nothing to do with England. Guys, its ok not to be the center of attention:)
Probably best not to start your post with “Truly interesting”, though. It only encourages us.
Also, I think Cherub is from north of the border but I’m not going to kick that hornets nest.
I don’t think you ever needed encouragement for being offtopic.
