Formula 1

I think there’s more than a 50 kmh speed difference. As idiot layman I can only tell that there’s at least a 40, 50 or even more kmh speed difference between my car and heavy trucks (LKWs) on the motorway. No loss of control yet due to this speed difference.

I guess the issue is that that corner (Spoon) is one the drivers pass with full throttle open. Changing from full throttle to braking, even slight braking, unsettles the car balance and “may” end up in loss of control. But, loss of control is a possibility among many.

FWIW, an engine can fail at any time and cause a slower car. Crashes happen too, and the broken cars are not moving at all. Somehow, drivers can manage this.

Seems that it was just 50kph difference, and in fact Colapinto was not harvesting at that point, so no flashing red light. A good article here

Not much happening with cars now. So, the human condition and gossip.

Believe it or not, F1 is a team competition. So, what happens when 1 team member does not signal full commitment? Other team members cover their rears. So, a declaration of “I don’t know, I’m not sure” becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Damn humans!!!

Max Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase set for McLaren F1 switch

Amid doubts over Verstappen’s long-term Formula 1 future, his trusted race engineer is heading to McLaren

But as first reported by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, and since confirmed to Motorsport.com by sources with knowledge of the situation, Red Bull and Verstappen are now set to lose Lambiase after all as he has agreed a deal to join rival McLaren.

Lambiase is set to join the reigning world champions in 2028, as he is currently contracted with Red Bull until the end of 2027. At McLaren, Lambiase would support team principal Andrea Stella in a senior trackside role. Both Red Bull and McLaren have been contacted for comment.

I find it hard to believe RedBull will want GP taking their info for the next 2 years if he’s off to McLaren. Surely at least 2027 will be gardening leave. People are leaving RedBull like it is a sinking ship.
