Not necessarily. OH gave me a toilet a few Christmases ago, and for another he gave me a vacuum cleaner. This year he adjusted the legs of an old Chinese table that we’d been storing for 20 years (to make it into a coffee table). I loved it!
A10er Card for the beauty salon…
But be aware, that can go horribly, horribly wrong.
Good one. The lingerie idea is much better, but even if OP knows exactly the size (a big if), I doubt he will guess the models his wife would prefer…unless it’s a present for himself…so to speak.
May I ask you why? These are also good ideas imo.
I bought travel-size jewelry cases for some female relatives for Christmas this year. Women need practical things to carry their stuff when traveling.
After reading the above suggestions, I am convinced men have no idea what women really want.
- A two-day get away somewhere
- Take them shopping and buy something they’d normally might not get
- A nice duvet
- App subscriptions for DuoLingo, Spotify or their favourite podcast etc
- a massage with perhaps a pedicure and a manicure
- A framed favourite photo
- an Ipad, headphones, etc or some electronic gadget they’d like
- luggage or something for travel
- Get Professional photos taken of the family or yourselves (this should be done more)
- an e-bike (but let her come along to choose)
- concert tickets
- quality hiking boots / trekking shoes
You’re welcome
Reply # 26: my wife said wine.
Reminds me I once had a colleague whose wife found nickers on the floor of his car
In desperation he claimed he liked to wear them from time to time
She bought him a very small pair for Christmas and insisted he wear them at least once a month
Or a beauty/body treatment package - better than any jewellery…imo.
It’s not, Tom. A friend of mine here is a professional photographer and also does fantastic family photos… many are done outdoors.
Her business is doing well and her photos are heartwarming. Take a look at her website. Laura Vercellone
Agree. There are many photo studios for such occasions. We had a fab photo shoot for my parents-in-law’s big anniversary a few years ago. Beautiful photos, and we were there for hours just experimenting and having fun. Would recommend it to anyone.
In the '80s-'90s US, there were studios (usually in malls) that would glam you all up with hair and makeup and doll you up with a choice of outfits, then take glam shots.
Very true but they also provided families the possibility for taking family photos, which are often still cherished today.
I got a Dyson…
My father died when all of us kids were still young (me 6). My mother decided to have a family photo done right after that, for whatever reason. The looks on our faces was simply painful to see.
I’m sorry to hear that, bossybaby.
It sounds like your Mom didn’t want to lose her children as well. And maybe regretted not getting that family photo done earlier.
Losing a parent at such a young age must have been devastating for everyone involved…
Agreed. Candid photos are so much nicer than Studio-posed ones.
I thought you meant the latter!
Your friend has got the right idea.
When I hear family Christmas photo I always think of this Congressman and family
I will go and get my coat
Can we have a thread just with photos like that. Oh that made me laugh, thank you Tom.
