Can someone tell me how im gona write on german " im writing to apply for position of kitchen staff"

What do you people think is this letter strong enough for this position.

"Ich schreiben Sie eine Anwendung auf die Küchenhilfe Position. Ich bin neu in der Schweiz und ich suche nach einem Job, wo ich meine Fähigkeiten zu zeigen können und auch Neues Fähigkeiten zu lernen. Ich denke, ich bin für diesen Job perfekt, weil ich jung bin, und ich möchte viel mehr zu lernen. Ich habe Erfahrung von einem Jahr im Restaurant und eine Bar (Reinigung, Küchenhilfe, Bar, Service). Bei meiner Arbeit Ich bin sehr unabhängige Person, aber ich liebe auch arbeiten in einem Team. Ich bin offen, kommunikativ, flexibel, fleißig und zuverlässige Person. Ich habe immer von Anweisungen zu arbeiten und ich immer mein Bestes zu geben. Meine Muttersprache ist Kroatisch, aber ich kann auch Deutsch und Englisch sprechen. Es wäre mir eine Freude, Ihnen zu zeigen meine Fähigkeiten und auch neue von Sie zu lernen. It's not perfect, you need to add more information e.g. about your job experience... and check with a German speaker before submitting.

Thank you very much. Im working on this whole day. I repleced some stuff and added new. I started working with 16 years. So i dont really any references. But in this add they dont ask it.

So this is the new one.

Have a native German speaker proofread your cover letter. You need to do things very cleanly here in CH and have perfect spelling and grammar as well as a certain letter structure, so proofreading it is very important. Experience in writing job applications should be a given with whoever you employ as a proofreader, because some things you have in your cover letter belong exclusively in the CV, some should only be mentioned at the job interview and some shouldn't be mentioned at all.

A quick tip: You don't apply as an applicant for a job, but for the job. The sentence "I am applying as an applicant for x-job in x-field" is incorrect; "I am applying for x-job in x-field" is redundant since the job title should be in the cover letter's subject line and by sending a cover letter and CV it is obvious that you are applying for a job. Also, avoid sentences that contain "I think that" or "I would/should/could" - rather state things as "I am"/"I can"/"I do"/"I am looking forward to" etc.

Hmm, it seems someone merged this thread with another of OP's thread.

When I replied yesterday night (current post #3), only OP's post #1 was there and my post became #2. I was the first person replying.

So when I said, it's not perfect (post #3) I really meant that my own German text (in current post #3) is not perfect cauz it's still incomplete. I was not referring to OP's post #2 that was later merged to this thread and which I just saw 5 minutes ago.

Yes, please follow Glow Jupiter's advice.

I agree. You need to get your grammar cleaned up. Laziness with grammar can be interpreted to reflect a lack of commitment on your part. Have a native speaker go through this text for you. It's still riddled with avoidable mistakes.

Making grammar mistakes while speaking during the interview is OK, as they will understand German is not your native language. But in written German you're still expected to be as near perfect as possible. This is just the way things are. I know it may sound unfair but you have to go with the system.

Furthermore, I believe it often helps to phone before sending off the letter and express some interest, show your motivation etc. Don't overdo it though as the person will be busy and if you leave the impression of somebody who won't stop talking this also works against you. But the person reading the letter will hopefully remember you (it helps if you remind him of your conversation in the letter).

Präparation - präparieren means "to dissect" in English - German term for "preparation" (of meals) is Zubereitung

if you say "seit x Jahren Erfahrung", in German it means that you stopped gaining experience x years ago. You should say "ich habe x Jahre Erfahrung" - I have x years of experience

For the Substativ "Präparation": I agree with you. It is also used in dentistry.

The verb präparieren is used a lot in culinary.

Using "Präparation" instead of Zubereitung is not very uncommon in my area though.

"seit x Jahren Erfahrung" vs. "ich habe x Jahre Erfahrung"

Honestly, I think both variants are correct and have pretty much the same meaning. In French, however, only your version is correct

Is it really wise to send a perfect cover letter, though? Doesn't that give a (wrong) impression that the person is more qualified or fluent than they truly are?

I agree you don't have to strive for perfection, or misrepresent yourself, but what I find important is making sure there are no grammar / spelling errors, as these might make give the impression you have no genuine interest in the job. Another thing is making sure the letter isn't overly inflated or full of impersonal language.

There are certain avoidable mistakes (capitalization anywhere but with nouns/beginnings of sentences, mentioning things in CV which belong in the cover letter and vice versa, misspelling of names/job descriptions) which should definitely be done perfectly. Others aren't as important - but if one hands in a cover letter which isn't at least free of grammatical/spelling errors, there are simply too many other applicants nowadays who possibly have gone through the trouble to weed out grammatical/spelling errors and thus might get a better chance at a job. The cover letter/CV is the first and sometimes only impression one can give for a job and thus score a job interview (unless you call in advance and know how to build sentences and keep up a job-related discussion in a foreign language while under stress), so one should make as good a first impression as possible.

I believe that an applicant has enough time to convince the future boss of their abilities/will to learn when in the job interview, why risk not even getting a chance to attend a job interview if you can avoid it by writing a very good cover letter/CV?
