How can I buy Paracetamol without leaving the house?

Hi all,

I tested positive for Covid yesterday and I need to buy Paracetamol and get it delivered to my house. I'm in Geneva and I checked both Amavita and Sunstore but neither deliver Paracetamol.

Anyone knows what should I do to get Paracetamol delivered to my place?

Thank you all

AFAIK there is no possibility of getting it online. You need to organise someone to pick it up for you.

Unless no friend/neighbour is available - bike courier i.e. http://krick.ch/

You can order the medication online (Amavita, Sunstore etc)- should be ready for in store pick up within 1h.

Hope you feel better soon!

Check with your regular pharmacy and ask if they do home deliveries, and if not, which one in your area does.

Call your local pharmacy, you won't be the first one and they are likely to have a solution.

For paracetamol some questions have to be asked therefore at a minimum you have to call your local pharmacy by phone. Otherwise find a facebook group with people willing to help and someone will help you.

The Sunstore pharmacy delivered paracetamol to a friend in a similar situation last year when her husband had Covid and she was in quarantine with him.

She phoned the store and they were incredibly helpful. This was in Neuchâtel but I’m sure if you call your nearest pharmacy they’ll be able to come up with a solution for you.

Surprised at Amavita as they claim to deliver on their website

https://www.amavita.ch/fr/centre-san...son-a-domicile

They're also named on the cantonal site as providing medication deliveries... https://www.ge.ch/teaser/covicoach/organiser-quotidien but if they claim to no longer do that, please try https://pharmaciedechampel.ch/a-propos/ who are also named.

It isn't about existence of delivery in Amavita. Paracetamol should be in list D and requires "advice of a specialist" and cannot be sold without it: https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...eimitteln.html

But I think it should work to call them, explain situation and get "advice" by phone. So after it, delivery can be organized.

I understand that much. Just thought that particular site would be a little helpful as it's specifically designed to help people in isolation.

I'm reading this thread and understanding how the 29p box of paracetamol at Boots becomes a CHF35 box of paracetamol in Switzerland.

I pay 8 or 9 Francs, don't know where you are buying it.

That's in the shop. It'll cost a fair bit more if someone hand-delivers it.

I've got a bottle of aspirin with 200 tablets pushing its validity date in my cupboard. I think I paid $12.99 for it. One of the medical wonders of over the counter shopping in the US.

Hope you're feeling better, OP.

Swiss quality paracetamol!

Which is, frankly, also an insane price to pay for paracetamol. (For 8 tablets)

While it of course paracetamol here doesn't cost 35chf on average, it is nevertheless ridiculous to have paracetamol as being needed to be sold 'under advice'; it's one of the safest mainstream pain medications.

I really do get annoyed by Switzerlands pharmacy drugopoly.

I don't know what I'm gonna do when I run out of aspirin in the giant bottles from Wally World. I think they were $5. Also Visine, Benadryl, big bottle of citirizine for $15, Lidocaine 20% spray (wonderful for insect bites), etc., etc., etc. OTOH, I just picked up a corticosteroid on Rx from my derm here in AT, and it was 8,50 E...would have been $60 in the US. Not going back there unless something terrible happens.

I guess having high prices is good to avoid overconsumption but is really a burden for people with actual issues. Recently I wanted to test having ibuprofen for a couple of weeks for plantar fasciitis as nothing else worked and 3 weeks of ibuprofen is 60+ CHF.

But if it’s prescribed it is covered by the insurances.
