How can i pay the speeding fine online?

I just received a speeding fine from sixt. I drive at 68 km/h which the limit is 50 at schaffhausen. It's on My way from stuttgart to zurich and i drive into a wrong way which is guided by Google map. In the town i didn't see the limit sign and recognize that i was too fast which caused 250 CHF fine.

I want to pay it online Because i find some experience that pay it onlie with credit card is the easiest way. But i can't type My car number accurate. Is there anyone know How to pay it online? I'll really appreciate it If anyone can reply me.

Are you sure you need to add the (D) in the registration plate?

I tried a few combinations on the license number format and none worked.

The note I get back from the system when I ask about the format is "Please enter the license plate number as indicated on the fine notice."

You should check again the details and format of both the case number and the license number on the paper you received.

Try them again in the page you showed us.

Why is this coming from Geneva? Does the document they sent you say that you need to pay in Geneva? Please confirm.

Your fine appears to have been issued by the Canton Schaffhausen (SH) yet you want to pay to the Canton of Geneva. That makes no sense, that's like paying California for a fine that issued by Texas police.

Online payment for simple fines by SH can be initiated from this page (shpol.ch) . That said you should be sure first the fine's indeed been issued by Schaffhausen police.

Thanks. I think It's the right website But it shows that the fine has been paid or forwarded to the court and none of My friends paid it successfully. So is it already been too late to pay it now?

Thanks, you're right. I just got misunderstood by the fine letter and It's My first time to pay fine in EU, I really know nothing about it.

If none of your friends paid it (better check this), than you should really give them a call tomorrow, since you still have the time to pay it, it be silly to let it go to court with all the extra costs belonging to such.

I think so, i will call the police tomorrow. Many Thanks for your help.

EdwinNL is saying that the fine was issued November 26, 2018 and you have 30 days to pay it so you still have this week to find out what the problem is.

Did you ask someone else to pay the fine for you? You should check with them first to see if it was done. If not, call the Police and ask if it has been paid and mention you are having a problem paying the fine on their system. They should be able to help you.

Is it possible that Sixt have already paid it and they're billing you? You could perhaps check with them.

Schaffhausen/Switzerland is not EU.

A minor detail in this story but we're a bit funny about that.

You are some lucky bastard.

Just had a little chat with the very friendly Policeman Mr. Frei from the Canton Schaffhausen Police Ordnungsbusse Zentrale. The fine cannot be payed online as it is annulled. Reason: You live in China, and there is no treaty between China and Switzerland to enforce fines in the other country. (Same would apply if you live in the USA btw.)

If you wish you can still pay. But you would have to call the number on the letter +41 52 632 81 20 and he will be so kind to re-activate the fine.

Marry Christmas to you.

This doesn't happen very often. You've gotten very lucky!

I would say that's two Christmas presents for OP: One by canton Schaffhausen and one from ASwissInTheUS with his personal effort!

OP will still get a bill paid by his credit card for giving the police the info. Happened to me when I was in Hospital with my wife driving the hire car in my name.

Where and when did OP give the police his credit card details (apart to Six)?

SIXT gave his details to the Police, they have his credit card & will charge for this service

I do not think they are allowed to do this (forward the CC details), and the police can not simply charge the CC as there is no contractual relationship. A charge back would be super easy and legitimate. But SIXT could have paid the fine and then charged the renters CC. But they didn't, they forwarded the drivers name and address and thus relived themselves of all obligations to pay the bill.

They may not have provided OP's CC data but they provided the data to identify him, like name and address, possibly also drivers license country+number. They must do this to not be liable for the ordnungsbusse. And it looks like they forwarded the original police letter to OP.

The rental company is not liable has there is a flaw in the current law.
