I met a lovely Swiss guy when he was over in Edinburgh but i only have his first name and a photograph.
How can i find him?

Do you know what city he's from? You could try tel.search.ch but there will probably be a whole lot of the same first name. You could upload the pic to Google Images too.
How much do you want to find him? You could always try a private investigator ... just agree to a fixed fee, rather than including expenses, if they're supposed to search in Switzerland ...
Do I Does he want to be found?
What accent did he have? German, french, italian or something kind of like German? That might (emphasis on the might) narrow it down a bit...
post his picture... what are the chances it is my neighbour? 1 in 4million?
Does he have a way to contact you? ( if he wants to.)

Hi Biff was thinking about that, he could use facebook as he knows i live in Edinburgh and i have updated my status to say what city i am from, but i never got a chance to say goodbye to him so he may think i was rude and not bother looking for me or maybe he is just not interested x

Well, it's pretty simple: You want to find him and this is the biggest english speaking community in Switzerland with hundreds of bored people. If you post the pic here with all info you have you might be lucky. If he has an average name you would otherwise have to look through hundreds of people and probably still then not be able to find him...
Well, I'd be really pissed if my pic was posted on some random forum. But I'm a woman so what do I know? Shouldn't matter as men can be stalked just as much as women.
If he knows you and how to contact you, I'd let it alone and see if he does. If you go chasing him, he'll definitely wonder what tactics you used and that could make him uneasy / scared / angry....possibly flattered but still creeped out.
Forget the photo in case that is overkill from his point of view. BUt if you give his first name, possibly a basic description, then either people here will know the name, and potentially him, or not.
