How do you clean your floor when you have a cat?

I have a steamer, no chemicals needed and is brilliant on tiled floors - dries immediately and leaves no water stains.

I mop twice.

I usually mix a cap of the cleaning agent into the bucket with hot water the first time and then mop over with a new bucket of water the second time round.

Pain in the backside. I dread the mopping task, terribly time consuming and back breaking but my dog has a habit of licking things off the floor like a hoover. Better to be safe than sorry - so far, he is still alive.

Good advice! The thing with cats, is that they clean themselves (paws included) frequently and therefore, I was always extremly careful as well.

exactly...

I usually buy the chemical ones.....are there any good ones with all natural ingredients? (sorta like an extract?)

if you go to the pharmacy, they have the small bottles of essential oil. looking at the one i have, it seems quite ok- and it's not too expensive considering the small amount you use each time. i use this mixture for everything, kitchen and bath it is excellent and use only vinegar with a small touch of oil for the windows, always safe and smells good.

anyway the one i use from the pharmacy is a brand called, aroma san. about 13chf for a small bottle, 15ml but it last about 4months and i use it ALOT!

I mop every 2-3 days...so I think I'll just get me a bucket of that stuff whenever I head back to civilization. Thanks for the advice!

Considering our cat spends 2/3 of the day asleep in her basket, we just wash the kitchen floor when it's dirty. It dries within a couple of minutes anyway.

On the other hand, turn on the vacuum and she's out of the room within seconds, handbrake turning around the corners as she goes

I think our cats are related...although, mine spends her days on my flufffy duvet....sips from my water cup when I'm not looking..and taps my shoulder with her paw early morning to announce that her majesty is ready for her breakfast.

Steam mop, steam mop, steam mop...

So good it's worth saying 3 times!

Where do you get one of those btw?

Make a pillow case in fluffy material and leave hole for the tail. Insert cat and swish around till floor clean.

I use Ajax liquid, as I hate smell of bleach. Use alcohol vinegar (buy it in France 40C for a litre) for the sink and kettle and bathroom as it clears limescale easily.

Sounds like another one I know!! Great that you have a cat!

As for the floor, I would agree with the cleaning fluid (eco maybe?), followed by rinsing with fresh hot water.

I use the cat to clean the floor - no kidding - and she likes it. Boot the cat onto her side then gently push he around the floor with your foot. She likes it (well she purrs anyway), her coat picks up dust and - icing on the cake - I can carry the baby around while doing it as both hands are free.

win-win!

*snap*...........

Yes, steaming cats preserves the taste much better than cooking them

Triple win - the cat will self-clean afterwards. No tedious shaking the dust off outside.
