I have fallen on my face and it doesn't look good

In London for a 3 day event and after a great first night disaster

Was walking along the road the next morning and tripped on an uneven surface and the next thing is -I am flat on my nose.

Lots of blood and pain and after being taken to hospital - I have a fractured nose, cuts,a chipped tooth, a fat lip cuts and bruises to my hands and knees.

Needless to say I look horrendous and will be not be venturing out for a while in case I frighten anyone.

Has anyone else done such a stupid thing? how long till I start to look normal?

I should be drinking champagne tonight - Instead I can just about sip tea through a straw.

I am fed up and in pain

Get well soon - it will be better day after day

well with the broken nose, black eyes will soon follow. depending on your age and the speed you can recover...(ill have a black eye for less than a couple hours....some people it lasts a good week to 2 weeks. .

make up could help (if you're a lady) but it will be quit obvious in any case....

Goodness smackerjack, I'm really sorry! My cousin was in a jacuzzi, got out, felt lightheaded, fainted and also fell flat on his face. Looked awful for about 6 weeks, and there's still a scar now. I think everyone heals differently though. Best recuperation!

THE swelling will all have disappeared within a week. Then you will be back to normal - unless that fractured nose has changed the shape of your nose of course. In that case you can look forward to having work on that later, along with another few days of a swollen nose and possibly black eyes. Been there, done that!!! :-P

Oh no . Sorry that happened to you. I can't offer any advice but I really hope you recover quickly and completely.

I am trying to think of any benefits to this -

1. I might lose some weight as I cannot hardly open my mouth

2. I can spend lots of time reading everyones posts on EF

3. I might be spoiled and I can read lots of mags about make up and watch all the antique programmes that seem to be on....

Good luck and be patient. Today you look like your avatar but in a few weeks you'll find again your playboy profile.

Arrgghh no I am so sorry about that. Bruising will go fairly soon (after the lovely yellow/green phase ! Your poor nose hopefully won't need to be 'redone'- what do the docs think? Perhaps they need to wait for swelling to be down to decide. Can't you do warm Champagne through a straw? What a shame, and get better soon. Will get a bottle of our best Mauler ready for your next visit to CH. Take care xx

Sorry to hear that.

Get well soon...

never stop drinking champagne for a broken nose. a few glasses and it's like nothing happened!

Hope there is no permanent damage.

I had a collegue once who was randomly attacked when leaving a nightclub in the early hours of New Year's day. He never even saw the punch coming (or his attacker), yet it broke his jaw and he was wired up for several weeks.

At least in your case there was no malicious intent - it was just an accident.

And hell...chicken soup, Lagavulin, malted chocolate milkshake and beer can all be consumed through a straw.

See a plastic surgeon for your nose to make sure you're healing properly.

It may seem a bit superficial to say this, but a lady doesn't need a boxer's nose.

Do hope you get well really quickly.

I had a friend who tripped in a gravel parking lot and did a lot of damage to her face. If you can find arnica gel it helps with bruising and aloe gel is great for helping wounds heal. After a few weeks she good as new!!

Ack, that sounds awful. Hope you recover quickly.

If it helps, I once broke my foot doing buddhist meditation. Was doing sitting meditation, my leg fell asleep, stood up to do the walking part and instead of standing with my foot flat on the ground, I stood up on my toes bent over and *snap* spiral break in one of my foot bones.

That's why they call them accidents. You don't plan them, it happens in a flash. Uneven pavement, or in my case, a step.

As many keep telling me, it could be worse. Take something for the pain. In time the pain will lessen, but for now no point suffering more than you need to.

Really sorry to hear about this and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Yep. About a year ago with my bike.

I had a true faceplant and it hurt terribly.

Apart from that, it felt quite embarrassing to drive through the city to work with a face full of blood and scratches.

Get well!

When I did, it involved a car, a tree and slushy snow. Fortunately I spent 6 months in hospital, so not too many people were subjected to my messy face. Get better soon. xx

Ouccch you poor thing! I am sorry to hear that. Falling flat on my face is one of my biggest fears - and its not a stupid thing at all. Sh!t happens. Ice is always my remedy for any swelling and it will definitely soothe the aches. Be patient, and refrain from looking into any mirrors at the moment.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!
