I need an electronic mini-whisk for salad sauces... can you use a milk frother?

As per title, I need a small whisk, preferably electronic, to mix small amounts of home made salad sauce in a cup. I have struggled to find anything online except milk frothers... can anyone please tell me if these will do the job?

Probably not powerful enough. They're normally only a pair of AA batteries.

For small portions I just use a fork, but you could try a short Allen key in a cordless drill.

Faced with a problem like that, a lesser person would simply give up and tip the contents of the cup down the sink, get a tin of beer out the fridge, and order a home delivered pizza.

Use a fork? Seriously? No fricken way... you are an absolute and unadulterated genius.

But seriously, while I can survive using forks, I ideally need a convenient (for daily use) electric option.

You could try one of these:

"Salad sauce"?

Doesn't olive oil come ready made?

Some are probably powerful enough. I have a very inexpensive bodum model, one speed. Might not be enough. It depends on how thick your mixture is. Look for ones with two speeds ....we used to have one by Roesele, all stainless, two speed, could beat an egg (not quite an egg white though). Alternatively, a small whisk.

We find that just putting it into a small bottle or jar and shaking it up works perfectly well - the idea of using an electric tool of any sort had never occured to me.

For such small quantities I use a whisk - but instead of holding it in one hand, I rub my hands together with the handle of the whisk between the palms. (The little one bought for daughters in a children's cooking set works quite well).I've whipped cream like that too.

This sort of whisk.

I could make you a stainless whisk if you want, what size collet does your die grinder take?

On a more serious note... If you can find a small PET container which is about 25% larger than the portion size you're set. Put a few 8mm ball bearings inside and shake a few times.

You don't like steel in your salad?... That's what rare earth magnets are for.

Thanks rog I have similar but it's not really a quick and dirty daily convenience tool.

Ee by gum...

Ahhhhhh so simple! Yes I could indeed do that and I just searched for some good shakers online that get great reviews. Thanks Ace, just the kind of inspiration I was looking for if I need to do it manually.

I'd suggest lead balls... they are heavier and therefore will mix the sauce better.

Me too. I keep a jar and lid just for mixing. Dig out when needed, wash, rinse, put away until needed again.

And the Lead Acetate evolved will sweeten the dressing!

Not to mention poison RD, and be a bother to keep in the bottle.

Being a dog, it's important that RD can safely lick his balls clean when he's done.

(And, the balls don't need to be that heavy, they just need to be denser than the substance being mixed... marbles would do, but they (like lead) are non magnetic.)

something like this? http://www.aliexpress.com/item/liqui...960871904.html

Not what I thought he was looking for, but as the link took me there anyway, there's always this.

Has the added advantage that you can just put the remainder straight in the fridge for next time.

As it's Friday:

You need this no?

KITCHENAID 5 SPEED HAND BLENDER 5KHB2571

Nope, nothing like that.

I already have a hand blender but it's way overkill for a small cup (literally using a small cup) of salad sauce.

I could make in larger portions but I don't know if I will use it before it goes off and I hate wasting stuff if I can avoid it.

or do what Jaime does ...
