There's probably a bit of tongue-in-cheek ribbing, because, even by Swiss standards, the salary is pretty good (can't speak for Zurich, but for practically all other parts of CH - in region of 1 1/2 x "average").
Regarding 2nd part of your Q. -- the responses from the established forum members about searching the forum is probably valid, as you wont be the first to make such enquiries - that's probably the best advice you can expect initially. Once you can report back with distinct questions relating to some of your findings, more help/advice may be forthcoming.
I'm also quite new to this forum (but not to CH) and there appears to be a definite way of playing the game - many new posters seem to demand information for nothing and no personal endeavour - which is sometimes met with the appearance of non-cooperative responses.
Whilst comparing the offer dosh with UK cash equivalent, bear in mind that you'll also have to make a judgement call regarding the exchange rate if you will have continuing financial commitments in the UK.
I would say 122K is quite a good salary, as it is in fact 2000CHF higher than the 120K that everyone else seemstobegettingoffersleftandrightfor . 2000CHF will buy you a lot of dishwasher tablets in Zürich.
Then again, one can't be too careful playing around with this whole "search function" business. After all, we've never heard another peep from most of these people after they got their question answered: for all you know or I know, they may have accepted offers of 120K and be STARVING in the STREETS right now. So we wouldn't want to search the forum and read up on their questions and the answers offered, no indeedy.
