Mail box name plates in Basel?

I was told by my landlord that i need to get name plates for the post box and call box at my apartment. Does anyone know where i should go to have this done in Basel? They are different sizes so i won't have 2 of the same made.

Either use this....

or give them people a call.

I vote for Crayolas they will be less expensive...

I used these guys for my old place:

They spoke English too and the service was very prompt.

Those little kiosks that do shoe repairs &/or key copying & similar stuff often offer nameplates at a reasonable price.

Take one of your neighbours plates along as an example, I am sure they won't mind

Anyone know where I can get one made up in Basel area, are they a standard size? Mine is 80mm x 17mm hole.

Thanks

Why go for the nameplate??? Just take a piece of paper and a marker pen and boom! you are a resident of the building. Most people go that way unless you are rolling in dough or you're all hoity toity about 'quality of life'!

For some buildings it is compulsory to have the metal name plates. If you don't get them yourself you can often expect the landlord to arrange them for you and charge you for the cost plus extra for the service .

Also, I wouldn't say most people go for a bit of paper. I'm not "rolling in it" but I prefer to have metal ones so my post actually always makes it to me and I don't have to keep replacing a scraggy piece of paper that the light has faded or the rain has wrecked.

What happened, somebody beat you with a large integration stick?

Keys are cheaper if done o ver the border, so I imagine the same is true for name plates - try the key maker at the Geant supermarket in St Louis.

Not in Switzerland....most places require engraved plates.

Is there an actual regulation that requires metal name plates?

If it is true that for some buildings it's 'compulsory', is that on a good will basis or something that can actually be enforced?

The only reason for metal plates is that all plates have the same look (and were made by the same company).

As i moved to bale, the caretaker of the building installed the plates (mailbox and at the flat itself) and left an invoice.

Thank you, Blackbird, though our question is really more whether DO WE HAVE TO spend money on getting a metal name plate?

(we are a family on a tight budget)

Yein. Some landlords insist that you do, others don't care. Whether it can be legally enforced? Probably not, but then you don't want to get on the wrong side of the landlord and/or house warden.

Depends on the your canton rules about renting which superseed what is written in your tenancy agreement and inside the "Building regulations" provided by your "gérance" (agency).

In Vaud, if the gérance requests so, it's mandatory to comply, and the same "style" must be respected. But, what people usually don't know, is that the Canton law superseeds this one and they specify that you are allowed to make it done by any professional of your choice.

Which is of course, much cheaper. I bet you can even do it online remotely, and get it posted for a few CHFS.

PS: As you have seen it's not same canton as yours so you should start reading your documents to know if you "HAVE TO" or not.

PS2: In Vaud, I got troubles for daring to put the first name in paper, even after buying the gérance plates, so make sure you are complying

The landlord/building manager usually requires all letterbox (and bell, and door) nameplates to be uniform, to maintain the aesthetics of the block. So yes, you will probably need to supply engraved plates.

Are the nameplates silver metal (aluminium) or black on white (or white on black)? If the latter, you may be able to mimic the style and print on white (or black) paper at home. I know of someone who got away with this for several years.
