I simply adore her and this is a good movie to watch.
Kite runner is now on my list to watch as it's been mentioned a few times, cheers
Titanic is a classic i watched it about 8 times in the cinema. Also Saving Private Ryan i cried buckets watching that film.
I enjoyed Casino Royale very much, my favorite James Bond story so far. Eva Green is such a hottie.
Some of my favourites from the past:
The Wicker Man (Original version). I don't reckon much of remakes in general and haven't seen the remake of this one.
The Lair of the White Worm
Tommy
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
The Life of Brian
The Time Machine (Again the original version)
The 'Hammer' Dracula films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee
'Carrie' and 'Jaws' were good first time round but don't stand the test of watching several times. The suspense element is lost.
Another movie quite similar to K-Pax I liked was "Signs" by M. Night Shyamalan.
Both films provide poignant social commentaries on the Swiss. It provided me some insight on the Swiss way of thinking. I've even seen Swiss German courseware that uses Die Schweizermacher as the text. I'll post here if I find it.
Here it is:
Die Schwiezermacher (the book). Learning Swiss Germand finally made fun!
Signs I liked too...
Taken is nice as well...not as good as I had expected though...but better than most.
the French version by Luc Besson,
just wild !!!
There was also a series called Nikita ,
liked that one too!!!
I'm surprised no one else cited Crash.
Excellent on the big screen or DVD.
I thought Three Burials and No country for Old Men were good on the big screen.
I ordered old rare b/w DVDs from the English Video Store in Seefeld in Zurich.
They arrived a day or so later in the post with a payment slip. Very convenient.
I haven't noticed it recently when going past on the tram and can't find it on the web.
Anyone know if it moved / closed / is still there?
If you fancy a bit of a break from the hollywood norm, check out the two movies written and directed by Tom McCarthy. His first back in 2003 is called "The Station Agent" and is just excellent. His follow up is called "The Visitor" and completely unrelated to the first so dont worry about which order you watch them in.
Both are excellent ways to spend 90 minutes of your life when you're not in the mood for violence, explosions, car chases and shooting (which usually I am).
Go see!
