My wife ( Mik) and i (Karl) are moving to Zurich very soon (november) Does anyone know of any nice place areas to live near to Dubendorf, were looking for a two or three bedroom apartment or house , where pets are allowed, and help hints or tips would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi Welcome to CH. Hope you enjoy it and find a place to live soon. Good luck

Hi there

I don't know any flats near Dubendorf, but I can recommend you this search engine: http://www.alle-immobilien.ch/home

Good luck with your search!

I'm up the hill in Gockhausen- it's in the woods and great for dogwalking!

Here is another search engine for apartments/houses:

Better than being over the hill in Gockhausen...

Thanks for the link, weve already trawled both of the sites, but we dont know where is a good place and where isnt .. we do not know the area at all ... I had a quick look around Dubendorf last weekend, but im sure there are a lot of other places to look at. We both like the countryside, but want to be in easy reach of places to go out for the evenign , drinks , eating out etc etc. Were moving from Amsterdam , so we are used to the cafe culture. Also it has to be easy for transportation to Dubendorf ie no more than a 30 minute car or bus ride away

Thankyou very much... nice to hear from another South African...

Thanks ill take a look at the area... :-)

You may want to consider Witikon (8053) or Fluntern/Zürichberg (8044). Two areas that are part of Zürich but still very close to Dübendorf (I assume you'll be working there?).

I didn't think you were out of the woods yet.

... and a great location for aircraft spotting in the early morning!

Cheers,

Martin

I think of them as more of an alarm clock. (With good windows you really don't hear them anyway)

That's the right attitude!

If you want to go out in the evenings for a few beers I assume you want to be near a train station, Gockhausen etc. are lovely places but the late night post pub homeward trip is pretty nasty.

I'd go for Dübi itself or Greifensee, Schwerzenbach or Uster....

Uster is bigger with more shops, Greifensee is nicer and right on the lake which is great and Schwezrenback is kinda inbetween (I wouldn't live there, its neither one nor the other)

Uster would be my choice if you don't want to live in Dübi...its got great train connections into town, its near the lake and its got a lot of woodland and walking country around it (as long as you live on the edge)

Hey, just our of curiosity, who will you be working for, if you don't mind my asking?

Uster is the way forward, good connections into Zürich, Co-op is open on Sunday and there are enough places to keep you fed and watered.

you may ask, but not sure i should name them , until contracts are signed... I dont want to tempt fate

Thankyou ... the postcode s are very helpfull especially on the housing searches ... much appreciated ...

Of course not! Let me know when you have signed though... if everything comes together, I'll be working in Dubendorf, too.

Several of our employees live in Wallisellen, by the way. Always seemed nice enough to me and within walking distance of some areas of Dubendorf.
