non-factory rims, FZ Ausweis

Where did you get ABE from? Did you find it in Internet?

I obtained it from the place in Germany where I bought the rims.

So is your ABE form a German TÜV cert? and based on that the swiss testcenter will sort it out for 100CHF (have it on your grey card)? (Btw did they also ask for an invoice? as I dont have that, but it def would be a nice and not so expensive option)

I managed to get some offers from importers, but it’s like 200CHF.. and I guess recording in greycard has some admin cost

I am not sure if it’s just class 4 TUV gutachten, or a good enough ABE.. PFA, i will try to check w STVA

A TÜV Certificate is not an ABE

An ABE (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubniss) is a formal type approval issued by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamd/KBA (German Federal Office of Motor Transport). Attached to the ABE might be a TÜV Certificate. But the TÜV certificate alone is not an ABE.

Here the corresponding ABE 47857 for the above document: http://interpneu.jfnet.de/abe/RS2%20...517_17_abe.pdf

You might get them entered in the gray card (if needed because dimension is not listed in cars type approval) if you present both documents together (Just print them out and staple them together).

Finally I have a new grey card. It was issued after my second visit to the test centre with the same papers I brought the first time, the ABE.

The first visit was chf 65. The second was chf 100 and that seems to have included the cost of the new grey card. The examiner at the test centre said the new grey card was fine on its own but it was mailed to me with copies of the papers I submitted so I will just keep everything together.

Now I can move forward with the sale of the car with a clear conscience. Of course I could have just put the summers on for the MFK but then a buyer may have ended up with the same problem as the OP 5 years from now. (The mileage is only 19,000 km).

Oops: spoke to soon. Got a bill today for 22 chf for the grey card.

Hello everyone!

I have a quick question, when i bought the car the previous owner give it to me with a set of wheels that are not the original ones for it - he also gave me the original rims without the tyres on them - there is any way that the mfk will pass if it has these aftermarket rims?

I heard from a colleague on my previous company that they did a series of test on the car to see if his aftermarket wheels were fine or not and then they approve it, what i dont know if these had a homologation document - thing that i dont have...

Anyone with a similar experience?

Thanks!!!

Have you seen this thread?

Any rims that are mounted on the car should have the certificate of homolgation from the maker and they will be tested during the MFK.

If they are accepted they will be noted on the "carte grise" or car log book.

So, Homologation Certification + Test, its not enough with just the Test on the MFK that the rims are all good?

Thanks!

They asked to see the certificate when I did my expertise and they did some checks. Cost me Fr 70.

Be aware: if you don't have the wheels noted on the log-book and have an accident, your car insurer can refuse to pay.
