6 weeks ![]()
For me it was 12 weeks after paying the SEM bill
Update: after sending requested updated documents to the civil status department of canton Vaud. They simply responded the updates I had given them will have âno effect on my Naturalisation processâ. Thatâs all
. Nothing about the following stepsâŚ
In which online platform were you able to check the application status ?
Is it canton specific ? Havenât heard of such platform for Vaud.
This is for the Canton of Zurich, most probably canton Vaud has a different process.
My status now. Done with the gemeinde interview now but awaiting the confirmation. Post that Kanton Interview. Was a bit slow because of summer holidays.
Those who have applied through Online E-EinbĂźrgerung paltform can see the status of the application. May be canton Vaud havenât started the Online E-Citizenship portal yet.
We just got our invitation to the ceremony. I was super excited, since it has been 22 months since applying. Unfortunately, the ceremony is in September. Hugely disappointing that we cannot make it as my husband has to be in Asia for work. I am now stressing about this. Does anyone who know many ceremonies there are each year in Vaud? Clearly there was one in August and then there will be another one in September.
I believe there are four each year.
There are far more than that, they are at least monthly.
Around 7000 people are naturalised in Vaud every year and there are around 350 people taking part in each ceremony.
that gives me hope!!! ![]()
Hi all
Any news from those whoâre waiting for SEM Approval in City of ZĂźrich?
Thank you in advance.
The answer wonât be very helpful. Applications arrive at the SEM and are distributed to case officers either randomly or by some other criteria (eg the letter your surname starts with). But town or canton is not one of them, so you canât compare the turnaround times.
Does anyone know after which step during the process can we move Kantons? Thanks.
My story is similar to folks here and i am still waiting for Silver letter. it will be 3 months now and i have not heard back from SEM. I cannot even check my application status as i did the old fashioned way of submitting the papers.
@DarkOrion Did you get the letter from Kanton Zurich after 12 weeks that they have got the silver letter from SEM ?
Hi 9thouse and welcome to the forum!
The last time I received something by post was when I received the invoice from SEM, which I paid immediately and after that, nothing. The only update I got was when checking online (by accident, no notification was sent) that my status changed from âBund PrĂźfungâ to âSchlussprĂźfungâ, which happened about 2.5-3 months after paying the SEM fee. In the online platform, there is also a message from Canton, which says that they are checking my application and will get in touch with me if they need anything else.
So I assume that this is the equivalent of the Silver letter and now I am waiting for the final confirmation (Golden letter). More than two months have passed and still no newsâŚ
It seems there has been couple of changes since the new law was intorduced last year. now you dont have to upload your debt clearance or residency proof as well as some other things too on the E-Portal.
Now it also seems you dont get letters from Gemeindeamt regarding SEM approval.
Anyway thank you all for sharing your expriences. its nice to see people experiencing different things even if from same city or sometimes applied around same time.
As I have mentioned often before, the only thing consistent about this process is itâs inconsistency. Processing times, especially at the SEM, are more or less random within the 8 month time frame. Mine was 6 months, others during the same time had 1.5-3 months. It is unfortunately an exercise in patience. No news is actually good news, as if something is WRONG, you will hear from them very quickly.
Hi @Silvano, have you had your Grundkenntnisstest yet? Did you have to do an interview after all?
Following is the translated calrification from Kanton ZĂźrich Website.
If you move during the naturalization process, you must observe the following points:
If your municipality has completed the assessment, you can move within the canton of Zurich and throughout Switzerland. Your naturalization will continue.
If you move before your municipality has completed the assessment, naturalization is currently no longer possible. Your naturalization will not continue. You can submit a new application in the canton of Zurich once you have lived in the new municipality for 2 years.
