Radio station for new music

I like listening to music on the radio.. The internet in this flat we are staying is gash, so I can't listen to online it gets too frustrating cutting off all the time. There is a radio here, but I don't know what are the best stations? I want something which plays current and new music, like Radio 1 or Capital FM ?

If you're looking for new music you could try RaBe from Bern or SRF3 later at night which plays an interesting selection of songs you've prolly never heard.

Couleur3 or Virus.

If you have dab, then TopTwo - although a bit Radio2ish, but minimal talking; or NRJ Energy Zurich/Basel/Bern.

Shame about the internet - COTN is still my prefered choice.

I listen to Couleur 3 but I'm not sure it's available where you are, I thought it was just in French speaking cantons but I may be wrong.

It's only temporary accommodation, we're moving next Friday and will be sure to get the baddest baddass connection in all of die Schweiz!

Thanks everyone, will google these stations for frequencies and give them a go later

The DAB+ transmissions are slowly arriving here, there are now about 10 "free to air" Digital Audio Broadcast stations. VHF-FM transmissions will be slowly phased out.

When you move home, check the radio outlet on the wall, with the TV outlet. On cable TV there are many European radio stations which are easy to use.

New music in Switzerland? Let me know how you get on as I have grown accustomed to repeats of eighties and nineties music with the odd "new" song thrown in.

I listen to Radio Nostalgie because I like those old repeats

Radio Basilisk would be right up your street then

Option Musique for me.

Do remember PixieB that most of what you’ll hear may not be in English. Option Musique plays some English songs, but mostly their stuff is in French. I’ve refound a lot of old favourites by hearing the French versions being played on the radio.

My favorite is Radio Chablais, but Nostalgie is good, too. You might not be able to get them in the Suisse Allemande, but try.

There's much more on DAB+ than FM ..

I like 80s music up to a point but it seems to flood the airwaves whenever I put the radio on (I flick between 3 or 4 radio stations in ZH).

My question is what the hell did they play on the radio DURING the 80s and 90s, or were they playing current 80s music as it was and decided to stick with it forever more?

"The best hits of all time!" trumpets the jingle but there are two decades of music since then that also has its fair share of decent hits.

I love 80's and 90's music, but there are only so many days when I can tolerate Queen followed by Boyz II Men

I think (if they had radio then) they were listening to Elvis and Andy Williams

Yeah that's what I've been getting... The odd 2010 Katy Perry or 2012 Olly Murs or something but sandwiched between heavy amounts of really old stuff (we heard Ace of Base the other day!!) and nothing 2014 -_-

I wouldn't mind hearing non-English/American stuff because at least most of that would sound new to me! All I've been hearing is oldies! Don't get me wrong oldies have their place I like a bit of nostalgia sometimes but it is not usually my first choice

I like this radio show on SRF3 for new music, and you can listen to it as a podcast: http://m.srf.ch/sendungen/sounds

Radio Chablais doesn't travel more than 10 kliks from the lake.

Couleur3 is fun sometimes, but aside of that, independent web radios, and web radio for kids, I hook to sound systems. I think I'd go crazy with the recycled track lists here after a while.

Aww maybe I'll just have to wait until I get a decent internet connection
