Red hair in Switzerland?

Hi

What people from Switzerland think about red hair? I have red hair and i'm a man and I would to know is this a problem in Switzerland (prejudice or something)?

This is a dead serious question. Thanks in advance for answer.

The Irish around here don't seem to have any problem. Unless you mean dyed red. Even then I don't think you have any problem, plenty of dyed hair here.

I've seen/known a few swiss redheads who are drop-dead gorgeous.

Don't think there's a problem with it.

(Do mind kick a ginger day though)

Someone told me there was a Kanton that produced a lot of redheads, can't remember which one though.

Ooops I missed it .. is this the year 1510?

Actually, around 40 years ago, there was prejudice against red-haired children in Switzerland, according to my wife. There is none now, as far as I know.

A dead serious question deserves a dead serious answer. Red hair is not genetically native to Switzerland and you will therefore be gazed upon in awe and wonder. Children will follow you in the street. Confectioners will give you free sweets if you visit their shops. On every second thursday of the month you are allowed under ancient law to stay in bed until a quarter past ten. Should you visit Canton Uri, you have the right to perform the rites of marriage on any couple you chance upon whilst crossing a bridge. You may speak welsh to ducks. You have the right to arm bears. You are allowed to lie about your name to people under the age of 25.

You're basically gonna have a blast , you lucky devil.

how do you know he's Irish?

I don't, but I never said the OP was. I said 'the Irish' don't seem to have a problem, not 'you Irish'.

There is some area in switzerland in the mountains between Graubünden and Wallis where red haired are hunted, grilled and eaten. Some belive, eating red haired would give them magical power and beeing presented by very successfull children.

Many red haired tourists desappear every year. You probably better dye your hair blond.

😊

haha no I wasn't having a go I know you didn't say that just wondering why Everyone who has red hair is Irish

Around here there are a lot of red haired Swiss people...natural and dyed!

I have heard some Swiss people even point to it as evidence of Celtic roots.

You shouldn't have any trouble at all.

I'm not Irish!

There's still some prejudice around against red heads. I know. I live in Kanton Schwyz in the middle of SVP territory. I'm surprised they haven't started a referendum against it yet.

I'd like to add that many, many women dye their hair at least partly red, especially the older women. Even my American friends mentioned this when they came to visit Switzerland a few years ago.

I am just happy the likes of me don't get burnt on the stake

Given that it seems to be a popular trend here for the more mature lady to dye her hair any shade ranging from sunburst orange to rustic plum, regardless of her natural colour, a natural redhead will look perfectly pedestrian by comparison.

Is the problem gender or barnet colour?

Men are legal here so that's easy.

I believe in many Kanton it is illegal to be ginger though, and there are rumours of forced hair dying and other human right attrocities commited on people with even a slight coppery tinge.... unless your are of a certain age in which case it seems compulsory.

Don't worry though as they have also made it illegal to shout oy rusty crust, carrot top, or 'ginger minger', which does give some solace

You only have a problem if you're male, ginger and left handed.

With only 2 of these afflictions, people have been known to survive.

Is this the Swiss equivalent of the "blue rinse" in the UK - something which used to be very common with the ladies of a certain age (haven't seen any recently though)
