I think the real weather news came from the Misox where there are still people missing. But good to have the train schedule of Zermatt posted here.

Strong thunderstorm and flooding last night in Misox (GR/TI). 3 people still missing. A part of the A13 Bernardino motorway is destroyed and will likely be closed for months.

People from Swisstopo already mapped the area under the Rapping Mapping program and the images are impressive.

This the motorway on 2022.

This is the motorway now. A new and huge alluvial fan is occupying the previous river bed. Water just did what it knows best: erode the softer material which was agricultural field and the motorway. Will show these images to engineers later this week and ask their opinion. AFAIK, quite hard to plan for this.

And this is the small town of Rebolgina. This was not flooding, water alone cannot do this. There were landslides upstream in the basin that had so much inertia, just continued straight on a river bend. In spite of being an aerial photo, the images are quite sensitive, only click if you really want to see. This is not survivable, it is a miracle that rescuers found a woman alive Maps of Switzerland - Swiss Confederation - map.geo.admin.ch

What a dumb statement.

And a very pleasant good day to you too.

More last night in the western part of the country. Geneva airport was shut for a few hours because of flooding and Morges got hit very badly as well.

Flight cancellations continue this morning. Check before going to GVA.

I was just checking the meteo forecast, should I wash the car today?

It seems the sky is falling in Jura Neuchâtelois. Take care!

There are some very loud noises emanating from up there, if it’s this loud down here it must be horrendous up there.

Waste of money. I would rather make sure you are parked inside.

I haven’t washed mine this year. No need with all the rain and the underside got several rinses to get rid of the road salt driving through standing water.

I don’t wash cars. Ever.

It’s possible my VW that I’ve had since 2008 has been washed, I suppose, but I don’t recall it. Maybe for its first MFK when I still believed that they’d fail it just for being dirty on the outside.

If I don’t the Mrs. will take them through one of those tunnels, and then complain about all the funny hair line scratches. Ten minutes and two jettons gets them sorted at the karcher place.

I have a karcher (two now, new one inherited) and have, on occasion, used it to clean the wheels, usually when doing the bi-annual tyre swap, and I guess it’s been aimed at any obviously very dirty bits on the paintwork, but I don’t cunt that as washing, which in my world would include buckets of soapy water and sponges if you’re doing it at home, or yes, the drive-through carwashes which my wife sometimes uses for her whte Audi TT that shows the dirt and looks good for being clean. If you’re bothered about micro-scratches you’d best not actually use the car at all.

Ha, I do both. 2 jetons for prewash with water jet to remove salt, dust, and other sharp stuff from the paint., Then, a pass by the tunnel. I have not noticed dramatic scratches so far. Anyway, damage from small rocks is way worse than any scratch and there’s plenty of places where there’s a hole in the paint. All left to do is to use one of those paint repair kits to not let the hole in the paint grow.

Back to topic, Morges underwater yesterday, Schaffhausen underwater this morning…a funny summer!
