I was told I cannot shower after 10pm, but I am wondering how strictly that rule will be enforced. During the summer, it doesn't even get dark until around 10 and I run/play sports after work. Can I get away with showering after 10, at least during the summer?
I honestly think people won't give you too much grief. I don't know a single house where this peculiar rule would be reinforced, I am not even sure it would be legal, despite some folks having it written down in contracts and whatnot. Same goes for flushing toilets, or early morning showers, etc.
There is taking shower in a decent, civil and quiet way, and than those who gut songs in there, etc. It is true that some of the buildings are not perfectly sound isolated, but if people are used to living in apartments, without being obsessively noisy and careless, I haven't heard of anyone having a trouble.
But, I do live in the French part, true that. Might be different.
I've never had any problems. I can't hear my neighbours' shower, so I presume they don't hear mine, and nobody has ever complained.
If you live in a flat with paper thin ceilings and a grumpy noise sensitive neighbour however, you might end up with issues. Going off experiences on here, there is the odd person like that about, but they are happily a tiny minority.
Surely it will depend on how much of a problem it is for your neighbours.
As someone whose room has been next to a bathroom where the noise from the shower was very much worse than in the actual bathroom itself, I can kind of sympathise with the neighbours. IF it's a real issue.
So, you could
- *not* shower after 10pm
- just go ahead and shower after 10pm and see if the say anything
