Simply stock trading

Got rid of some tobacco stocks.

Now liquidity are my top 3 positions: BOXX, SGOV and CAOS together making 20% of portfolio.

Still hold MO with a little gain of 70% plus a lot of years of dividends.

The tobacco alternatives smell like rat farts so I made my friend visiting from Switzerland smoke cigarettes again at my home (could have forbidden smoking at all, but then I am making money with that smokers…). Not that I like the smoke but at least it does not taste that bad like those alternatives.

But it is a money maker and therefore: thank you for smoking!

Brilliant move by them. They can gather tons of info on how people trade without having to pay one of their minions to have meetings with clients. AI can analyze the trades and tell the banks where to monetize next!

That trading data is completely and utterly useless. Because:

  1. there’s no drawback, no punishment by the market. Losing is painless, contrary to real life a failed attempt has zero negative consequences. And of course you can start an unlimited number of accounts/portfolios.
  2. therefore i pays to take outsized and therefore concentrated risks (which is probably why the investment universe defined as it is, it limts positions to relatively few stocks)

So your million frank loss was originally a supposedly free job benefit. Got to exercise my options before the great fiasco.

You seem to keep selling. I hope you don’t end up with cash only

Little chance for that, the gambling strategy is still at a margin multiplier of 123.62%. But yes, I am searching something to buy. If I don’t find anything I will double down on an existing position.

If his dad had bought $100 worth of the S&P at his birth and re-invested the dividends …

I’ll see myself out.

$2,246,106 according to AI

That is ridiculously low, all the Silicon Valley guys would pay ten times that to be in his shape, even 20 years earlier.

His father (yes, I knew him) told me the story once why they moved to the valley where he lives now. But that is another story.

And the new month starts with a double down on Ibex for my gambling portfolio:
bot [email protected]

Again, not a favorite move for me that my captain asked me to do. The position is already 62% in the green. But then, AI probably makes their life easy, all those support bots don’t need to be fed.

Instead of the boring Ibex company logo here a few of those beautiful beasts I did see the last week in Salamanca:

Addon: Chart, is at all-time high. Right moment to buy, no?

From today’s WSJ Markets A.M. newsletter:

Today in Markets History

On this day in 1965, a new sports drink was tested during a football game between the University of Florida Gators and Louisiana State University Tigers. Florida’s players held up better in the hot and humid conditions and won in an upset. The drink was nicknamed “Gatorade.”

I personally think you should all drink more Gatorade to help my Pepsico holding in my portfolio …

We haven’t trash talked AI in a while.

I on Monday last used AI to adapt a script that parses firewall logs because the log format changed significantly and we switched from TLS VPN to IPSEC. It was amazing – I was done in half an hour instead of what would have taken me a couple of hours at least.
Didn’t pay a dime for my use of Gemini. Don’t understand how the economics work out for these companies.

If you’re filing in Switzerland, those three don’t come out the same at tax time. SGOV’s monthly distributions are taxable income, whereas BOXX pays nothing out and its return only shows up in the price, which is normally treated as a tax-free private capital gain here (as long as you’re not classed as a professional trader). BOXX isn’t in the ICTax Kursliste, so I’d keep its fact sheet and annual report handy in case the Steueramt asks. On a 20% cash sleeve, that can easily matter more than the small gap between their yields.

And a report from the oil front. A little more than a year ago I started buying up oil companies. I started with two refiners, CVI and PBF. Not much changed, they both are still on “buy”. On CVI I did already double down, PBF may be next.

Of course I don’t like to double down after the stock almost tripled in a year, but if my captain tells me so I will do it without hesitation.
