I did find the "schneepass central schweiz" ( http://www.schneepasszentralschweiz.ch/ ) but that's for entire region, which is not really necessary - I'm just looking for a season pass for a single area (for now).
Years ago I always went skiing in Wengen and bought a season pass for that area. Now that I'm living near Zurich I thought I'd buy a season pass for a ski area near Zurich, but I can only seem to find prices for day passes, 10 day passes etc. Does such a season pass not exist anymore or am I looking in the wrong place?

I now see that I've been typing the 'wrong' words in google. I suddenly find a lot more season passes!
There is also the "Meilenweiss" skipass, which covers ca. 15 Areas. I would recommend that one instead of a single area. Yes, you pay CHF 100-150 more, than only Flumserberg, but it gives you so much more to chose instead.

My first year here I got a pass that covered Davos, Klosters, Laax, Flims & St Moritz.
I then got a Verbier season pass followed by 16 Chamonix season passes, I will collect the 17th next week

Every ski area has a season pass option.......near Zurich area, take a look the Hoch Ybrig Plus, this includes Hoch yBrig and the Mythen Region. Or as suggested the Meilenweiss, which is great value, and if it included Hoch yBrig would be just about perfect
Yep, season pass prices often are nearly double if you buy them after the start of the season.
With the TopCard you can travel on all lifts, cable cars and funicular railways within Davos, Klosters, Flims Laax Falera and Ischgl Samnaun.
We live in Zürich and like this.
It's excellent value, but it would be nice if there were an option for a season pass for the individual areas on the TopCard, they're all so large that there's no way you can fully use the TopCard
Well 15 weekends & 2 weeks of holidays is 44 days , add a few public holidays . I think many people will fully use their top card .
Don't forget all the driving between resorts to use it adds to the cost as well.
I would be happy with a Laax local pass. for half the cost. There is plenty to ski all season in one area, unless you are ski bumming it and not having to work in between.
You don't pay any more.......everybody dreams of a half price card season card, unless your a resident it won't happen.
Actually, this year for the first time we won't be renewing our resident's discounted 12-month pass (for chf 640)[1], as we've finally managed to negotiate a discount for _all_ instructors, not just the full time ones, so we'll get the winter season pass for just 400 instead.
[1] So not half price, but a 30% discount.
Last year we easily managed the value from the Top Card. I think we did 40 ish days (inc. a 10 day ski holiday) between Davos and Flims which would cost you well over 2,000 chf. We both work full time.
Ischgl is new to the top card this year and replaces Lenzerheide (due to Lenzerheide and Arosa connecting) - good for a long weekend perhaps but a bit far from Zürich.
The best time to buy the top card is end of the winter and then it includes the summer and the following winter..... Great if you like biking / hiking too.

Do you think it's better to check randomly some resorts for the first year or buy directly an all area pass like the "Meilenweiss" skipass?

I started with snowboard 10 years ago (after 15 years of ski ).
So looking for powder and snowpark
I think you'd be better off exploring and finding the resorts you like and the ones you dont. Next year if you feel youre going to ski ALOT (30+ days is alot IMO) then go ahead and get a ski pass for a region.
For me personally, I cant seem to justify the value of a ski pass of one resort or region. I ski almost every weekend in winter, mainly only when the weather is semi decent but generally just on Sundays, along with 3 or 4 long weekends to some resorts further away.
Last year I skied 17 days I think. I find I dont like week long trips hence why my day count is much lower. But my main problem is I like to ski in alot of different places, so I think i would feel a bit tied down if I had a ski pass only to one region.
Like fatmanfilms said, it mainly depends on you. Would you ski 30+ days a year?
Flims Laax has a great snow park.. including europes biggest half pipe, apparently.
I once skied there after a 1m dump, so plenty of powder to be found there, if youre lucky with your timing
