Super fine insect net for window

During the warmer months I have a lot of very small insects entering from the windows, especially from one side of the house (probably coming from the pond of the neighbors or the stables just beyond).

I looked around for an insect net to put at the windows from that side, but looking around I only found things like this:

(it's a normal mosquito net)

While I probably need something like this:

(it's one of my computer fan filters)

My best idea for now is to order 2 of those custom built fan filters from the US and attach them to the bathroom window with velcro (that is the most important window to cover, 2 because they don't make a fan filter large enough for the window)... It's a pretty bad idea.

Do you happen to have a better idea? Maybe you know where to find similarly fine nets more locally?

Thanks anyway

Lidl were recently selling insect nets in aluminium painted frames (white) that clip to your windows.

The dark netting ones are more "invisible" than the white.

We bought a couple last year and the quality is really good but they're a kit so you need a hacksaw for the aluminium, a rubber hammer, a rule and a square at the minimum for a good neat job.

They have them in their publicity leaflet for Aldi this week too so they will be on offer starting from either Thursday or Monday there.

We bought some from aldi a few years ago and they were really good, I think the stuff from lidl and aldi is basically the same with a different name on the packaging.

Are those fine? Are the openings in the mesh as small as my fan filter or close?

They're designed for small flying insects and the weave is much finer than your mosquito net photo.

You can also always look at Landi, they have them on sale regularly

Ha, thanks for that thread.

I've been searching for weeks now as I need it as "Meterware" (like a few meters, no frame etc.) and can't find it anywhere. The sizes are either for windows or - when they are something like 2.5m long they're all done "fancy" for balcony doors.

I simply need the material and don't quiet understand why this is not available.

googling meterware fliegengitter gives plenty of sources. Many in Germany, but I've bought fabric crossborder without problems.

The moment I had posted, amazon suddenly reveals it's offers to me

Where did you buy your's?

oh, and 1mm - don't mosquitos get through a 1mm hole?

Which one are you looking at on Amazon? Can you link it?

Tons here.

When you made the perfect choice, let me know which one exactly.

Anyone know the answer to whether a mosquito can get through a 1mm hole?

If you need a very fine mesh, there is anti-pollen mesh in "Jumbo" (I saw it in "JUMBO maximo Dietlikon").

1mm will stop mosquitos according to this http://www.mosquito-netting.com/mosquito-netting.html

Watch out for the sand flies though !

Very neat idea. Problem is the - too small - size, not buyable by the meter.

Just cross the border and visit DM

Where I am, I install 26 "weaves per inch?", which is about 1mm. It works well against mosquitos. Also 24 per inch, which is a bit wider, should be fine. The problem is, the tighter the weave, the less air and light goes through. These tight nets reduce the air flow quite noticably, and if you have no A/C, you might want to go as wide as possible without getting the little stingy buggers.

Now so far you've been my bet with everything. But tonight is not your night

a) it's only 130x150 cm and b) it's "nicht mehr im Verkauf", not sold anymore.

Did you see? It was vegan

I just found something at Obi's , it looks rather expensive in comparison to amazon.de but hey, I can pick it up, put it on and forget about it .....

I would like to get it cheaper though, stingy me

edit: ahh, and the pollennet that smb mentioned , bigger.

I see what you mean. At a point one might as well keep the window closed

So these I linked are supposed to be "besonders luftdurchlässig" (extra air-permeable) but that description means anything and nothing.

Keeping all this pollen dust out would be neat too though.

They have different sizes

And it wasn ́t available online, you can still buy it in a shop. That ́s where I get mine as well

...defeating the laws of physics. That's cool, you should buy them
