How s it possible that 90% of the Swiss bread is already hard the moment you buy it!!! And the other 10% will be hard by tomorrow morning! Wow, that annoys me so much - and all I want is a fresh bread that tastes good and lasts more than a few hours .... am I asking too much??
buy a bread basket and keep the bread in it, dude. Microwave it for 10 seconds before eating. The bread here is some of the best in the world, you just have to realize it. That is all.
You could leave it in a bowl of water, cover it with a damp cloth, or spray it every twenty minutes with a mister.
Although, as MarieZug suggested, you can play an excellent duck-shooting game with bits of the bread when it is too dry to eat. Apart from bopping a duck on the head (10 points), you can also try to land the bread on a ducks' back, then watch all the other ducks, swans, moorhens and coots dive upon it to retrieve the crusty morsel (20 points).
Not that I've ever played that game, mind. I'm sure MarieZug can give you the full list of rules...
We played this game a few days ago it was -7 freezing cold, but we still had fun, the seagals tried to spoil it by trying to catch it before the bread landed .
OP we buy sandwhich bread in the Migros really soft and yummy, lasts a few days, another idea is why not cut what you need, and freeze the rest, and defrost when you what to eat some more
though in other countries they have bread which you don't have to seal, leave next to a bowl of water, freshen up, etc. It just stays fresh for at least a couple of days...
Not the ducks (saying that i do like a good duck at the chinese ) we where talking about the seaguls oh yes we are horrible lets be nice. Who wants a free tea bag seeing as all the crunchies have gone
plastic bags makes the bread crust soft,I like my bread crispi crust fresh inside. with tons of butter, salami, leberwurscht cheese, fleischkaess, speck on it Just as on your pic ,ApFab
You should try the St Galler Brot from Coop in the blue bags. I have found this to stay fresh the longest and if bought after work one day you will easily get to fresh lunches out of it.
I understand what everyone else is saying about additives/preservatives in the tradition Irish/English sandwich breads but I miss them so much
Living on your own and buying fresh bread in Switzerland is a serious waste of food as you rarely get a chance to finish what you've bought before it turns into concrete!!
excluding my St Galler Brot suggestion above of course
