Swiss regulations concerning Bidet shower installation

Hi all, we are renovating our bathroom and I we decided , in order to safe space, to install a bidet shower next to the toilet.

I am aware of the details and safety point for the installation but ...I just hear that this is not allowed in Switzerland!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a surprise !!

So, I have email the SVGW and I am awaiting answer. I still wanted to come to here and ask, as I have always get great help from the forum.

Is there anybody that knows about this??

I will be very happy if this is not true as I found it to be to much on regulation in Switzerland !!

Sorry, not sure I am following your question. But are you asking if a bidet, ie. typcial french bidet, is allowed in Switzerland? (not sure if a 'bidet shower' as you refer is something else)

If so, I would say yes they are here and must be allowed, as there is one in our house.

Possibly you would need to go through the usual authorisations and permissions with the commune though. Perhaps your commune has additional regulations or concerns about them.

It may be something to do with the fact that you could drop the shower head into the toilet bowl thus allowing polluted water to enter the clean water system via the shower head.

In the U.K., a shower over a bath needs a retaining clip to prevent the shower head from being lowered into the bath - for a similar reason.

I think you can get round it in the U.K.with an anti-siphoning valve.

Not sure what the rules are here though!

It's siphoning

If, for example, your shower-head is in your toilet and then someone opened all the other taps in the house (or somewhere else in the water system), foul water from the toilet bowl could be siphoned into the clean water system via the shower-head.

Edit - more realistic reason:

Actually, it would probably need a large drop in main water pressure for this to happen. Another pipe splitting could do this. (freeze and thaw perhaps?).

Cleaner than using a piece of loo-paper.

You don't wash the dirty dishes by wiping them with a bit of paper-towel, do you?

Very common in some countries.

And I always thought that the wall paper in our bathroom was wood chip

Our friends have one of those things but I have never asked them about it just case they answer me

thanks to all for your commentaries . But still do not get the info. Just to make things more clear. I bidet shower is not a bidet, it is a shower that you install near to the toilet seat. And yes!!! for some people, just toilet paper is not enough!! It is not the point to discuss , I think. Please, if you do not have info about he regulation on this point, keep your opinion about each person cleaning habits to yourself.

I have already contact the saler and they said they have already sales other to Switzerland, but I wanted to be sure.

Surely it'd be "Th' arse shower". ( I'm also a Yorkshireman ).

Anyway, I've definitely seen shower heads of the type in your link on sale in Jumbo. You could always get it fitted far enough from the toilet to be permitted, and then add a longer hose...

I think you mean a shower-toilet and not a Bidet shower.

Well I had a funny surprise when using the disabled toilet in Swisscom. I was sitting down and made a halfway flush as there was a bit of a smell: to my big surprise a tube with a fountain came out of the porcelain and began to shower my bottom clean. It then retracted, just like this,

So this type of shower toilet is approved. I inspected it carefully, and the tube only comes out when sitting down.

But how would the siphoning work when the shower tap is turned off?

& if the shower is not turned off then the water pressure would stop siphoning.

& if you had a split pipe then that would be a possible unclean source
