Swiss Weather!

Lots of storms over Switzerland tonight:

Had over 10mm of steady rain and the temps dropped 5°. Stopped now and it’s quite a nice evening.

Lots of hail, windy, cooled down a bit.

Brilliant. 12 degrees temp drop and finally fresh air.

Forecast is we might get some, but nothing so far.

Incredible such a wide band of storms, still the occasional flash here North of Zürich and distant grumbling

Reports of hail storms and flooding in Bern, Argau and Zürich.

So refreshing, a night of proper sleep ahead

I was waiting the hail with an open bottle of rum to use it as ice, but nothing…so, the pleasure of using hail to cool my drink was not fulfilled today

Thank goodness for that, the last time it left my car looking like a golf ball.

Yeah, about that. Just put kids back to sleep who got scared by the thunder and lightning. Then remembered, I forgot to take out the laundry so had to go downstairs and hang the laundry out to dry.

Rained a little just after I posted yesterday, but didn’t get much. Had some grumbles and rumbles.

WRS this morning.

Sudden rain storms caused flooding in many parts of central Switzerland. Heavy rain, hail and high winds battered parts of cantons Zug, Aargau, Lucerne and Zurich. Cellars were flooded, trees downed and sewers overwhelmed. The worst of the storms struck between 6pm and midnight. So far there have been no reports of any injuries.

And I agree you do not want hail. In 2013 we lost a big window, a few stores and a garden shed. Now, if there is any threat we put all the stores up. It’s easier (and cheaper) to replace the glass than the stores.

Forecast is maybe we’ll get some rain some time today, but went out and watered my new plants anyway just to be on the safe side. If they get more fine, but don’t want them dying because I relied on the weather and it didn’t produce.

Bergfex has promised us heavy thundery rains for 3 days now, but we haven’t seen more than a drop. The garden is winding down, so not a disaster, but with new plants you are doing the right thing. I have about 50 iris to transplant…

We’ve had nothing either.

Assorted bits of trees, two table placemats and the lid of a tupperware box were the treasures we found on our balcony this morning. None of them are ours.

We had heavy rain with hail, thunder and lightning yesterday evening on the Silver coast of Zürichsee. The hail was quite small, though.

Perhaps at your place but it is not universal. It depends.

Some triple-glazed windows are much more expensive than a shutter protecting it.

Not sure it’s easier to replace windows either.
We had around nine shutters replaced a couple of years ago and it took the chap just a few hours.
Windows would have taken much longer.

I’m beginning to think this is one of those things that everyone says is true but isn’t at all.

Now that’s funny. 29 mm in Buchs and Aarau, just a few drops in Suhr to cool down.

Following the 2013 storm which stretched from Geneva to Neuchatel you couldn’t find anyone to replace damaged stores. Replacing windows was much easier. So it’s not only the cost it’ll the ability to get the work done.
