Swiss Weather!

355m and no snow.

My handy wants me to have the Christmas feeling so the weather app tells me it will continue snowing here.

700M+ here, and snowing lightly. Only a cm coming in the next 24 hours.

Coming down more heavily now. Roads are getting covered. 600m here.

hahaha, yes. So, first snow of this winter!

Temperatures going up here. Over 1° in last hour. What little has fallen is turning to mush. 12° is forecast for Sunday.

Finally it started. But it looks more like white rain, I’m not convinced.

Webcam on the south side of the Gotthard tunnel (via TCS). Do you see any asphalt?

I guess news about trucks getting stuck are coming soon.

I do. But the vehicles are not on but parallelto it!

I’ll finish some work and go for a walk. Proper snow here in Aargau.

Proper snow here, it looks lovely from the comfort of my sofa.

Gee, maybe they should widen a few autoroutes. :duck:

Now 7° out, rain has stopped but we have a wind warning.

You think it’s a pr-action by BR Rösti just before the Abstimmungssonntag (Sunday of voting)?

I’m a bit irritated. I got this weather-link somewhere (was it on here?) and they report about busses collapsing, busses (Postauto - drivers very used to drive in snow and on narrow mountain roads) having accidents. Then I see the pictures and just a few centimeters of snow.

Seriously?! What happened to Switzerland? This was normal every winter for decades for the bigger part of my life.
Masses of snow? Great danger, government declares high risk level?

These are masses of snow:

And this I would call a lot of snow for Zurich (2021)

The Tessla-generation better learn how to drive again.

Now the residential street here is covered in snow and no snowplough has passed yet (very unusual). A neighbour is having a snowball fight with his kids, the athmosphere is absolutely great!

I went out for a walk around town and the vibes were off.

Lots of traffic for the hour and impatient people driving stupidly. I encountered 3 snowplows in different streets, drivers are no happy to see a pedestrian. They stop, make a sign that you move out of the way. Otherwise, they would bury you in snow. Then, they continue their job as if they were fighting the snow. Come on, fluffy snow is not an enemy!

I returned back home and went straight to the cellar. Brought the winter decoration up to the apartment. Now waiting for the wine to warm up and breathe a bit  Welcome to the winter!

PS. yes, it’s until Dec 21. But it’s cold and I’m looking forward to the aged red.

Zurich HB was a mess. What was more annoying was that my train from Zug to HB decided to skip all stations along the way (great for me) to the horror and annoyance of the majority of other passengers.

I’m surprised the snow surprised them.

awww, that’s too bad. I seem to live in a better place than you … or maybe just further away from the grumpy civilisation.

That’s crazy! Are they expected to keep taking trains back and forth until the train finally stops at their place??

I like the cork star! Hope you were involved in their extractions.

Around here the snow line has moved above the top of the Jura. Our first snowfall (of the season) barely lasted 3 hours but the wind is bringing down the remainder leaves …
