Probably the remains of the Sahara dust from Friday in the upper atmosphere
Well it rained last night, so I doubt that and as the saying goes: “red at night, seamans delight, red at morning, seamans warning” I take it to herold a weather change.
…which is why I wrote upper atmosphere. It persists a fair while above the cloud layer.
Missed that bit.
Instead had the sun shining brightly this afternoon.
Had a light dusting of snow overnight and had a bit more falling a little while ago. Stopped now.
We had mostly sun this morning, then cloudy, then graupel and now snow.
There are news about icy roads and crashes. Cantonal road traffic sites have the most detailed and up to date info. Anyway, TCS provides a good overview of current status of roads in Switzerland. Take care:
Snow all night and all this morning with a stiff breeze blowing it around. Roads still clear, though. Zero degrees, about 2cm on the ground. This freezing Pest from the West is set to stay a while…
OH reports massive snow in SG, with delays on the motorway.
Its cold and wet. Its winter he says. But winter does not have to be like this. It could be clear sunny skies and 20 degrees.
20° in winter would be wrong in my opinion.
Clear blue skies and sunshine would be nice but not 20°, that would be a disaster for wildlife.
It is, in California…or Australia.
Mate, this isn’t Brisbane.
We don’t use Fahrenheit in Europe ![]()
20 degrees centigrade
. We need an “Indian Summer” here.
We already had an ‘Indian summer’, that was in September and October.
You don’t get Indian summers in Switzerland in winter.
If you want 20°C then you’ll have to travel to get it, we certainly don’t want that here at this time of year.
What I want is a proper winter.
You likely can find 20° temperatures in Tropenhaus Frutigen without leaving Switzerland.
