Swiss Weather!

Trump! Is that you?

The sky was very red in the morning. A red morning sky often suggests high-pressure, fair weather systems to the east have already passed, and a storm system from the west may be approaching.

No snow is predicted in Zurich in the next 16 days.

Not quite as high predicted here - 13/14C - then rain starting on Saturday through Monday, some dry days and then from Friday rain/snow forecast through the following week.

Seems to chime with the saying; “Red sky at night, shepherds’ delight. Red sky in the morning, shepherds’ warning”.

In Zurich no snow predicted for the next 16 days.

Say hello to Tuesday.

And Thursday through to the following Monday.

I’m surprised our commune hasn’t gotten the snow poles out yet. Some roads roundabout have them, but not the ones heading into our commune or the commune itself. They’re late this year.

Ours just went up today.

I picked up something the other day on the wireless that Bavaria had decided to reduce spending on winter precautions due to the lack of snow over the recent years.
My onions heard it and just laughed.

Ask Geneva about their 1984 decision to sell all their snow clearance equipment to Lausanne for a bargain price. I experienced the blizzard of Feb 85 even though I hadn’t yet moved here.

Flight diverted to Zürich, 6 hour train journey to Geneva, taxi unable (or unwilling) to drive last 500m to my accommodation, heating off when I arrived.

Governments seem to be learning from climate change, only they are taking the wrong classes.

And having said our snow poles weren’t up yet, they got put out yesterday.

Big snowy cold front arriving Tuesday…temps off a cliff, to 3+ day, -3 at night. Sunny and warm here after a warm night (föhn), but yesterday was white with Sahara dust.

And the rain’s arrived. Not very heavy yet, but enough to damp the roads/pavements.

And raining steadily now.

Starting to cloud over here in Apfeldorf after two days of magnificent lenticular clouds from the Föhn.
Took the bike or for a run to a height just above the village.

Föhn was strong here all day, with occasional windy periods. 21C and sunny, but the clouds moved in this evening and gave us a little rain shower.

A new ice age is predicted.

Woke up to the most amazing but ominous red sky at morning, seamans warning sky.
I’m glad I got a few kms on the bike yesterday because there may not be many more for a while.
That reminds me… have to fill up the antifreeze.
