The gods have been rumbling and grumbling and pissing all afternoon.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain all morning until mid-afternoon, now sunny and warm.
Some distant thunderstorms but none closer than 100km
I was out cutting the grass at our house 20km West of Basel. nice and sunny till about four, then we had about an hour of thunder, lightning and rain. Seems to have cleared up now, but still a bit dark.
Weather alerts for the whole of Switzerland later today so make sure everything is battened down that you can’t get inside.
Geneva has cancelled all its festival events today from 2pm.
Hoping it’s not going to be as bad as forecast as we have some broken roof tiles and had water getting into the house while we were away; so not looking for a repeat of that.

Just on the bike heading in the general direction of Lake Constance and watching the weather with bated breath.
When I was first here I tried to drive to Lake Constance but there were only signs for some place named Bodensee.

I went for a short hike. The air is feels heavy, almost like you can touch it. While you walk by a tall grass patch it feels like a sauna. So, we have all the signs of strong thunderstorms coming our way.

Just a few Km’s to the Pfänder, stopped for a rest and taking my jacket off was like stripping Velcro. The sky ahead looks very dark, almost paynes gray.
According to https://www.lightningmaps.org/ there is a one near Interlaken at the moment.
Anyway strange weather, our air conditioning condenser is producing so much condensed water I had to attach a hose to the drain to fill a bucket to avoid neighbourly complaints.
I don’t know if it was weather-related but my jar of breakfast jam was frozen to the shelf in the fridge this morning, to the shelf, not the fridge back as sometimes happens.
Ugh. Sky is white/tan with Sahara sand. Temp 33, still and humid. I hate this kind of weather, especially as I was going to fire up the barbie. Maybe we should just have a salad…
Just popped out of the tunnel, ‘‘twas nice and cool inside. Not so much now.
Canton Vaud has also banned outdoor events.

Bit of a wind now and the air reeks of all kind of things that normally don’t reach the ground. That pressure change is here.

We were hiking further east. 1500 - 2000m, wonderful breeze and fresh air. All fine.
No, I only agreed to that location because I was working in CA and he in DE. We bugged out between April and November. Late Nov to early April was absolutely gorgeous. And the neighbours? No thanks. Today here looks like Dubai, at about half the celsius temp.
A truly terrible place. We are blessed here, 97% of the time.
You don’t need to tell me…we existed there for almost 2 years, fleeing on a private jet, never to return. God, what a hell.
