Waddya know, heading up the Silvretta and the sun is out.
Rain’s stopped, sun’s come out. The calm before the storm???
No idea, just laid down on a wooden bench at a bus stop… not getting younger and that bike is starting to become uncomfortable
Ouch…Eeeee! Arrrgh! I don’t want to get up again, I want to be like the moss growing in the cracks. Not quite inanimate, not quite alive, just still and not moving. Just existing in the moment.
I’m a few miles south of Geneva. We had a couple of very brief showers earlier this afternoon and now the sun’s coming out, more light rain and maybe a bit of lightening is predicted for around seven.
Never before has Geneva panicked the way it has this week, the city’s school Promotion parades and fêtes were cancelled on Wednesday, today pretty-much everything has been closed to the public from 2pm; museums, concert halls, libraries, village fêtes, etc. and the airport has arranged emergency landing rights with several nearby airports.
Yet, so far at least, nothing. It’ll be interesting to see how the cantonal officials explain this lot on Monday!
Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best.
Just made it to hotel Piz Buin on the pass.
I love thunderstorms in the mountains. Let’s just hope it dies down by the morning.
By the way, the British rowing team is practicing on the lake…!
Valais getting hit atm.
Well that was pointless, we got nothing and not likely to either based on the projections.
Hmm! Sun shining now…. Was that all, four claps of thunder and two flashes?
Storms in the mountains ain’t what they used to be.
There were a lot of very disappointed kids on Wednesday, the Promotions parade is a big event for the younger ones.
Today same goes for the footie fans as the fan zone was sealed off, as were all the parks. They’ve never bothered before, I wonder why now?
Being of the cynical persuasion I suspect the officials just fancied going home early.
Well, it’s half past, getting darker and I can hear a grumbling echoing around the mountains. Clouds coming in thicker from CH-way.
Three tables down… British rowing team getting relaxed and sloshed after a days hard rowing.
Well the storm has arrived, big time. No hail, yet, but everything else all at once.
Is it better to leave the stores up and risk hail breaking the windows or putting them down and getting damaged.
How far are you from Silvretta?
Just tuned into the banter and antics of the kind of gal and guy talk you get when young and fit athletes have a few…
Something about the girls team rowing topless as a birthday gift for the lesbian team captain.
I’m just outside Nyon.
Ah, still a fair lick away.
Team has been there in summer for yonks. Stop on by, Slammer!
Just you wayt, 'enry 'iggins, just you wayt! Edit: This is turning out to be a nothingburger. Rain tomorrow.
I thought I read on old EF that the stores should be up so they’re not damaged, and the glass should be sturdy enough. Might depend on the size and angle of any hail, though!
Blowin a Hoolie ewtside!
Peaks really looking „foreboding“ would not want to be up there all alone and lost.
Going to have to rewatch „The Trollenberg Terror“ when I get back.
