Not sure if this is news, but I noticed that since the last software update I can finally see live camera feeds from my Model Y in my Tesla app, when sentry mode is enabled
Pretty sure that wasnāt possible before, perhaps due to Swiss privacy rules.
Aside from the live camera feed, itās also a nice visual update to the UI. Control of music is improved. It increases the size of the speedometer, and adds better visual cues about trip progress and traffic en route.
No other manufacturer devotes this level of dedication and attention to the continuous improvement of their vehicles user experience.
Yes, that was an update that arrived last year, without any notification that I saw. Great, because on previous occasions when driving at night at the UK, I was constantly getting flashed by oncoming traffic even in low beam.
Last time I arrived in the UK at the channel tunnel, the Tesla informed me that headlights had automatically been adjusted. Lovely.
I will be driving to London in the summer, so a slightly shorter trip.
Incidentally last weekend I drove to Stuttgart and on the drive home in the late evening started to feel really sleepy. So I pulled off the highway, put the car into camp mode and had a refreshing 1hr snooze with the seat reclined all the way back.
It made me think about getting a custom mattress and using the car as a camper for longer trips. There is a blogging Swiss family of three whoāve driven all the way down to Marrakech in their Model Y, the guy being my height of 6ft. They claim its completely doable, interspersed with the odd hotel stay as there are even superchargers in Morocco.
Thereās a simpler answer. The supply chain of Tesla cars assembled on US or Germany reaches China. The headline is about cars, but it could also be car components.
Earlier this week news about Tesla asking suppliers in China and Taiwan to produce somewhere else to prevent supply chain disruption in case of any political conflict.
Just back from a 2 week trip to the UK, covering Yorkshire, West Midlands and the south coast. In all 3,241kms.
Left home charged to 100% off our solar panels. 100% showed 521kms range. Spent ā¬170.68 on Tesla Supercharging (Ā£ charges converted to ā¬). French Autoroute tolls ā¬102.42 and about the only place where Enhanced Autopilot work faultlessly.
The Model Y Long Range averaged 160w/km, the same as always. This went down to 140w/km in Switzerland and Englandās potholed roads and 50MPH extensive coning for something. Up to 200w/km at 133KPH in France.
People always ask about range. The car navigation showed 3 stops only to Calais. Draining down to single figure %s and some stops under 15 minutes. We got as far as Basel for our first comfort stop and made more en route and broke all the navigation suggestions.
The Model Y performed faultlessly. Radar warning is activated in France and UK (forbidden in CH) it also measured average speed in the UK when average speed radar was in action - a sub icon to the speed limit icon.
I still donāt understand why Teslas are separated for the Chunnel. In a way it was good as we boarded and de-boarded before most others - which included other non-Tesla EVsā¦
