Tesla EV discussion

Tessie is one of those apps affected by the price change that Tesla is bringing to user of its API(s).

I’m one of those users that don’t use any other app than the Tesla app (and ABRP then and now). I should probably use one of those apps like Tessie to see long-term trends in battery-health and degradation - but I just can’t get myself to do that. Most require either some sort of account on someone else’s server - or a server of my own.

Stats for Tesla, which I have used for 5 years now paying, I think, CHF5 for the app, has now gone to CHF5/month - and lost me as a punter.

A pity as it showed battery degradation and driving efficiency compared to other users. I’ll wait until Tesla offers these as part of their App…

ASS remains ASS in my opinion. In Europe it is limited to 6m. In the states I believe it is 45m. It’s pointless… since the Model Y is about 5m long it basically means you can summon it one car length.

Apple watch integration is nice to have but it seems the option for pre-heating the car is just on or off. Not particularly useful compared to the phone.

The best feature of the Apple watch is being able to unlock and even drive the car without the phone or card. I often go for a jog and don’t have my phone with me so its useful being able to get something from the car.

I can see this being pretty attractive if it comes to Europe, even with the small price bump. A car you can easily run for half million km (same motors and battery) for absolutely free.

P.S Tesla t&c exclude commercial use so not going to work for Taxis

cool

Tesla share price @ $421 is surprisingly high considering global sales are forecast to be down this year vs 23

Over 40% Of Tesla’s Profit Comes From Selling Regulatory Credits and this business is declining as other manufacturers enter the EV market.

The hope is that Musk’s relationship with Trump will help Tesla but the US market is only a bit more than a third of Tesla’s total sales.

Looking at the numbers of model Y sales they look ok around the same as 2023 in Europe but model 3 has halved

Word is the blinker stalk for the new Y will be an option.

As it should have been on the 3.

Video ofCybertruck exploding outside Trump Las Vegas hotel today, presumably a battery problem.

Be careful out there

One dead, 7 injured.

Outright EV battery explosions appear to be extremely rare. What are the odds of a random extremely rare explosion happening exactly in front of a Trump building?

On the other hand it’s entirely unthinkable that a left extremist could have planned and executed such a terrorist attack. They’re all totally peaceful and none of them has any violent thoughts, says one Luigi Mangione.

To be fair, they don‘t need to do anything ever again, given they are living rent free in the heads of the right extremists. Job done… :woman_shrugging:t2::joy:

Your joking on what may well be a terrorist attack is despicable.

You’re an utter disgrace as a mod.

Oh come on! You are making unhinged speculation that really doesn‘t deserve any kind of serious response. Come back when they‘ve confirmed that it‘s a ‘left extremist‘. Christ. :joy:

Of course, it’s all totally innocent. And anyways, anybody loghing in a Trump establishment deserves no better, isn’t that really what you want to say.

Dunno. Sounds like that’s what you’re trying to say.

I was just pointing out the unhinged speculation based on zero facts, but ok.

Now announced it was deliberate, a lot of fireworks used to make a bomb

Sounds unlikely but no doubt they have evidence

Battery explosions start with a fire, a violent crash or immersion in water. The video you shared shows none of them. Only a explosion out of the blue, it’s suspicious.

There is another video on X from inside the Trump hotel. You can hear the sound of firework whistles and bangs.

BBC reports the Cyber Truck was loaded with fireworks and fuel canisters. The driver was killed and 7 others injured…

There is now an aftermarket option for the 3.
The stalkless design was one of the main reasons I avoided the Model 3 Highland and got a Y instead.
