Model 3 has 11.7m turning circle.
And ID.3 has 10.2.
The thing is a boat.
A Model S has 12.3, a BMW iX4 has 12.8(!)
Don’t buy a BMW iX4, 360 view or not, if you hate narrow parking garages.

As MedeaFleecestealer said, old buildings are the problem. Recent constructions are more reasonable.
I live in building finished in 2018. There’s a few VW Transporters and a boat (RR Ghost) in the underground parking. No issues at all.
My lovely little car has 12.2m turning circle. Previous truck was 14-15m turning circle, and it worked even offroad. Never fell down into a ravine, I’m still here ![]()
ID3 is rear wheel drive, hence the neat turning circle…
My FWD Skoda Citigo IVe has a turning circle of 9.8m and I still find some underground spots tight.
Bur more and more I’m seeing larger cars taking up two spaces so they fit. Not certain how their management deals with this. Two spots should be double the price, at least.
VW vans are not the biggest by any means:
VW van: Width 1904mm. Length: 4890mm
BMX X7: Width 2000mm. Length: 5151mm
They do that with aeroplane seats so should be okay for the more plus-sized cars too.
Tesla is waiting for the approval of its (supervised) Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in China, but now a new report claims that Chinese authorities are considering using it as a bargaining chip in the ongoing trade war with the US.
Business and politics never mix well.
I assume they pay for two spots or at least a bit more than the rest. I just don’t see anyone missing this opportunity to charge a bit more.
If turning on a dime is desired than RWD is the way to go. My Volvo 240 had the same turning circle as your Citigo.
Unless deregulation is on the agenda. Then its like a spiked punch bowl at a teen party.
How do you pay for two spots? You can only draw one ticket for a start.
Unless they limit entry to small cars, there’s not much that parking garages can do about that. You simply can’t park an EQS in the same way you could park a 2007 VW Passat, rear-wheel-steering or not.
I thought he meant the cost of the parking place in a residential building. Otherwise yes, I agree that public garages can’t do much.
Its not a surprise that Chinese manufacturers dominate in their home market because they’re serving up exactly what their customers want. The fact that an equivalent Model Y doesn’t have an instrument cluster, HUD, luxurious interior, reliable auto windscreen wipers, sonic parking sensors or radar cruise control etc… are some reasons off the top of my head.
The only thing Tesla has is a premium Western badge, but it seems like the Chinese have gotten off their inferiority complex and now regard their products as both superior and globally class leading.
A much bigger part of the reason for said domination is the brutal extra capacity in China which has been subsidized by the government from both sides: consumer subsidies AND industry subsidies. With that level of cash, some of their vehicles are close to 0 production cost. Clearly unsustainable and clearly an attempt to drive western car manufacturers into bankruptcy.

Tesla recalled over 375,000 vehicles in the US due to steering glitches causing power steering failure so requiring more effort to steer.
The vehicles affected include Model 3 and Model Y versions from 2023, necessitating an urgent software update.
I thought they did software updates over the air.
Its legacy ‘National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’ language, but of course the fix will be installed over the air. The NHTSA has recently come up to date and will start correctly labelling it in their press releases.
Tesla share price currently $337, down 17% since Trump’s inauguration.
Price forecasts vary from $550 Wedbush to $135 JP Morgan.
