New registrations of Tesla vehicles in China fell 75.8% between June 30 and July 6, according to weekly insurance data published on Tuesday, marking the lowest level in two months and a sharp reversal from the prior weekâs high.
Tesla registered 5,010 vehicles during the first week of the third quarter, down from 20,700 units in the final week of June â its highest weekly figure so far this year.
Tesla delivered 71,599 vehicles in the Chinese market last month, a nearly 1% increase from the same month last year, according to data released by Chinaâs Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
I guess because the car is rather big.
It is, after all, a big-ass American car. Even the Model 3.
Next week I could have an unwelcome passenger in my car. Hopefully there is a way to toggle it on and off because I donât fancy real time streaming of camera, location and voice recordings to Mr Musk.

They always remind me of a later model Ford Probe. Probably not the vibe that Elon was going for, though.

Franz von Holzhausen (Teslaâs Head of Design) worked at Mazda before he joined Tesla and that shows.
The cars look much better in person than in pictures or even video - and thatâs not something specific to Tesla. Itâs an industry trend.
Nah, it just âput me in mindâ of the Probe - gimmicky. I got a lift in the UK in one (couldnât tell you which model) and I was surprised how crap the interior was and the roughness of the ride.
At the end of the day, itâs down to personal preference and my impression was that they arenât worth the money.
Clearly thereâs a market for them or they wouldnât be on the road.
Perhaps upfront cost is lower than other brands

The ones made in the US (Model 3 delivered from early 2019 to, I think, sometime around halfway through 2020) are hit-and-miss. But the ones made in China (LRW VIN) and Germany (XP VIN) are mostly OK-ish. Model Ys never came from the US.
Facelift Model 3 (around 06/2023) and 2024 (and the early 2025 facelift) Model Y are also much more comfortable rides.
They are safe, fun to drive and the base-models are relatively cheap to own (deprecation of 2022 and younger cars seems to have bottomed out, mostly), for a car of that size and power.
The cars actually have very little âgimmicksâ that can break, so I am actually not sure what youâre referring toâŚ

IF true, who will buy a Tesla - or any other EV with lithium ion battery pack? A bit like the computer CEO who said if you think this new model is good, you should see what we are working on for our nexr model. Nobody bought the new one.
And who produces the most Alu?
Itâs not who produces it, but who has the bauxite aluminum is smelted from. Worldwide aluminum reserves.
