According to ChatGPT its a pretty hostile political message.
What the design is doing
The red shape is made from four Tesla “T” logos arranged to resemble a stylized swastika.
The text “TESLAS HABEN EINEN HAKEN!” means both “Teslas have a catch” and, punning on Hakenkreuz (“swastika”), something like “Teslas have a hook / swastika attached to them.”
So the sticker is essentially saying: “Teslas are Nazi cars” or “Teslas are linked to fascism.”
VW Beetle was designed by German engineer Ferdinand Porsche, but it was commissioned and heavily promoted by Adolf Hitler as part of his vision for an affordable “people’s car” (Volkswagen) for German families. Hitler himself was not the engineer or designer, but he played a decisive political role in specifying its purpose, approving prototype designs, and enabling its mass production through state support during the Nazi regime.
It works best if your car is plugged into a home charger so phantom drain isn’t an issue. In my case its parked outside my appt with no charging, and since I may not use the car for several days or even a week I don’t want to lose 3-5% per day (even with the optimised 2024.38 update) for a glorified dash cam.
Generally speaking the Tesla is very good when you have none of these features turned on e.g. sentry, cabin overheat etc.. I once left it for 2 weeks at an airport parking and it only lost 2% charge as the car was in deep sleep mode.
Its against the law Tom, and as a fine law-abiding citizen yourself, I’m sure you will join me in condemning it
Article 144 StGB (Swiss Penal Code): damaging, defacing, or making another’s property unusable — including by glue, paint, or stickers — is a criminal offence.
TBH, the sales around Europe send a louder message than any sticker. There is an assembly plant in Brandenburg and only 750 Teslas were sold in whole Germany last month. Seven hundred and fifty. This is below underutilisation, it’s a massacre.
I’m a bit p1ssed off with Tesla drivers at the moment.
Why can’t they driver with the safety of others in mind?
Seriously, a bus passed me yesterday on the open road on the other side of the road but the Tesla driver a few seconds later obviously thought it was OK to close-pass me and nearly knocked me off my bike.
No law against that in Switzerland though but I’d be doing time for putting a removeable sticker on a car.
I typed the following in Google earlier and let Google auto-complete:
Are Tesla drivers the new…
Any guesses what the auto-complete was?
Are Tesla drivers the new…BMW drivers?
(So it’s obviously not just me that thinks that before you go off on one)
For me, it was “…Prius drivers”. Must be partly down to the algorithm, where you are more likely to click on the link if it chimes with your narrative/history?
Also don’t know why mine came up with a Prius. Don’t even know what one looks like.
