The bite: great, generous patty. Sides are not bad too. Getting a seat here at a weekend is horrendous though - book well in advance
Loft 5: posh place, but their Kalbfleischburger is to die for. I prefer it more than the bite. Not so generous on their sides however
Fork and bottle: good pub burger
For me, the best burger is still The Bite. Yes, seating is horrendous, but that's because it is that good. Book in advance. The burgers are tasty, the Chipotle hot sauce is a must-try, and the Animal Fries are a delight.
To quote Inspector Todd in Beverly Hills Cop: "opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one". Having lived in Sweden for almost three years, I can only say that I find most local Swedish cheeses utterly disgusting and to be honest, upon opening the packages, more than once did I wonder if was something wrong about it... but again, everybody has an opinion.
Hooray for Swiss cheese (especially Gruyères) on the burgers over here!
Should I find a restaurant that makes an average burger (and by the way, having an OP from California, which is a particularly good burger region) I'll be happy to mention it. But, despite fairly extensive trail-and-error, I so far have come up empty.

The best ones are the ones I make with my secret bromide. But seeing this recurring recommendation, I will try The Bite next time I come across it.
My second favorite in Switzerland is Mr. Pickwicks's cheeseburger with bacon and egg + onion rings, in Zug and Luzern. But I have not bothered to venture to try any others, as I have given up on good burgers in Switzerland. Those Swiss cows are better for milking than for burgering.
Oh damn, I'm hungry now .
Also, the Upperdeck is one of the few places, where you can get scrambled eggs for breakfast.
In Basel, the only place I would kind of recommend is Union in Klein Basel. Dont go to the Union Diner in town, it's shite. The burgers in Klein Basel are MUCH better.
Cindy's Diner was pretty decent I would say, but the bun is massive let down sadly. The pattie was nice.
But then again, tastes differ...
People also mention Mel's diner and Flanagan's as places to try out.
And you can get scrambled eggs at many cafe's in Zürich without having to sit in the bland void of nothingness decor that is the airport.
Agreed... and is the general response from most people I know.
For me, the best burgers in ZH are at Goumet Burger (Korner) and at Loft Five close to the main station.
In Baden (AG) you also get great burgers at the 'Lemon'.
Cheers
