We all have accepted that almost everything is made in China, even non-Chinese manufactured EVs mostly have a lot of Chines bits in them.

China’s human rights record aside, its not a country that is openly promoting race hatred in the West, cheerleading wars across the world and causing mass unemployment, inflation and global instability.
Its a sign of the times that more countries now trust China than the US and her Western Allies.

Perhaps you haven’t noticed that Tesla also have a base model (at least for the 3 and at a similar price to the base Polestar 2) with very limited features and lower range - I would say even less than the Polestar base model. The premium models are roughly equivalent to the Polestar plus package although theTesla price difference is higher.

The European version of the base models are less gimped than the American counterparts.
And they currently have very attractive financing.
A 0 down, 0 % financing over five years is crazy…

True, I see they now have an entry level model with semi-cloth seats and no sunroof. However that comes at an even lower price point than a standard Model 3, which again doesn’t have many options to add.
That’s another issue. It will also get more complicate when the plants in Spain start to churn out “Chinese” cars by 2027-2028.
He has gotten pretty silent recently - besides some random tweets. I also don’t think this is true - why would he hire people all over the globe for Tesla if that was the case?
I seriously don’t understand what actually happened when Trump appointed him. He was there and “saved” the US like 90M - on a trillion dollar budget. Seems like “DOGE” wasn’t that efficient.
The practical reason to not own a Tesla however is that you shouldn’t get targeted by political activists.

If we go down that hole - all battery components are basically made in China - which is why I personally find the whole discussion really tiresome. It’s still a free choice to anybody either way.

Not at all to do with politics but my personal opinion.
A car to be is a means of getting from A to B preferably at a reasonable cost. I don’t need any fancy bells and whistles and high tech displays, apps etc. I just need a functional car and it will never be a Tesla.

This is hell of deal at the moment that you can get and I think once FSD is approved in Switzerland EOY you won’t find such prices anymore
Whoever buys something else today is simply crazy and will regret it.
Tesla has some demos of FSD at the moment you can ride along as a passenger, I highly recommend anybody full of Musk hate to try it, they will blown away
The funny thing is that all that „fancy stuff“ in my Tesla just blends into the background.
You hardly notice it when you drive.
And, as previously mentioned, current laws mandate certain ADAS systems.
Various vendors have implementations of these that are sub-standard and drive you up the wall with their behavior.
It’s no longer about getting from A to B.

I have to admit, being able to pre-condition the cabin in either the winter or summer from the comfort of my phone is not something I would want to give up going back to a petrol car. For various legal reasons ICE cars don’t have the ability to start the engine and run the AC remotely.
So your car is on the road for twice as long.
So much for people trying to reduce traffic congestion - you’re planning to double it !

Indeed it doesn’t, but it does have to be an EV since remote starting an engine and leaving it idling unattended is forbidden here.
