Bombardier is in Berlin, was Canadien, is French since 2021 … so typical who?
Was on another one this morning - the leg room is also appalling! Especially the disabled seats and those where 4 face each other.
(Is tram grumpiness a sign of old age?)

As they seem to save space, are the trams full at least?
The seats are cold slippery and unfriendly. Why cant they make just flat seats instead of the seats with a buckle on each side. THey are more made for Twiggy than normal people. This buckle on the side pushes into my money wallet in my back pocket and is really uncomfortable. Typical Zurich. (di I have to take my non slip mat with me everytime I use the tram.
That buckling in both sides is a nudge to manspreaders. Don’t use more space that you need to.
Not really, is it?!
But you will get whip lash and end up in a wheel chair for the rest of your life.
Bern has started introducing the trams with the slippery wood seats as well. I am not a fan. Although they are better lit than the ones with the textile seats, there are far fewer seats available. The newer brakes also mean that people and things fly around a lot more when the driver has to brake abruptly to avoid a dumb pedestrian staring at a cell phone.
Not sure you’re right. Sudden braking sways you in direction of travel at first. The subconscious desire to be upright after the shock will keep you exactly there. The way from sitting upright to the seat is also just a few cm - you may not even have a concussion.
I’d say riding in a backward seat in those trams is the perfect way for omtatsat.
There are soooo many other non slip easily cleanable materials that they could have used. And add a bit more colour to this lifeless Zurich tram. The people in Basel wanted such a seat as in the pic. And they got it.
A few months ago, I was riding a tram in Zurich with a backpack and a grocery bag. At one stop, the tram got a bit crowded, and an elderly but healthy man walked over to where I was sitting in the aisle seat. Since I was getting off in a few stops and wanted to be courteous, I stood up and offered him the window seat (which was empty), assuming he would sit there. However, as I adjusted my bags and prepared to sit back down, he took the aisle seat instead, leaving me completely stunned. When I asked him to move to the window so I could reclaim my original seat, he simply told me to find another one. I felt both angry and amused—like, why did I even bother being nice? LOL.
I’d have politely asked him to stand to allow me to access the window seat then sat there next to him taking up as much space as possible.
I’d have then done the same thing when getting up to leave shortly afterwards.
that’s the strangest thing I’ve heard in a long time.
the elderly swiss are a strange bunch.
No we are not, it’s you bloody foreigners.
Old people anywhere in any country can be a strange bunch but others can be nice.
Getting a piece of desirable paper probably doesn’t make much difference to a person’s attitude.
Maybe he wanted his seat pre-warmed.
He was testing you. And you failed miserably.
Looks like your sarcasm detector is broken.
