Over the past few days I've started to notice a large number of swiss drinking energy drinks such as red bull etc. I've noticed its usually the smokers, as they often have a cigarette in hand while drinking red bull. Perhaps a lot of swiss have addiction problems? Not only cigarettes, but large amounts of caffeine as well.
Why do the swiss love their energy drinks so much? You would expect them to be all hyper and loud, but they are still pretty quiet (most of them).
Tell me about it My husband doesn't smoke and was a professional athlete... I can't pry the engery drinks from his hand. Our little guy runs around with the cans asking us to fill them with "sirop"... Makes me crazy!
I forgot to mention... Most professional athletes here drink the stuff like water to help "improve" their performance. Or maybe the habit comes from his mom drinking 10 coffees a day
The high number of energy drinks consumed here is also to be seen on the grass verges and pavements of our towns - nicely mixed in with empty cigarette packets and beer cans.
I can't stand the smell of Red Bull, it's awful... When I was pregnant and people were drinking it next to me in the bus it was all I could do not to throw up on the spot...
Apparently it's more of a problem for young people, teenagers really, as they drink vast quantities of it, mixing it with alcohol, without realizing the amount of coffeine they ingest.
I was talking to a woman who was doing a research project with Kiosk once, and she told me that the energy drink is the best selling product of all of the "ok.-" brand (Kiosk's own brand) products. It would certainly seem that way by the number of people drinking them on the tram at 7am.
As long as you can neither buy the monster size of Monster nor the real Mountain Dew in Switzerland I do not believe that the people who live in Switzerland are addicted to energy drinks. Or Market research is completely wrong.
