Thermal Baths / Spa Hotel near Zurich

Hi all,

There are other threads on this, but I have a bit more of a specific query.

I went with the missus to 7132 Vals (my first spa/thermals experience!) recently and had a great weekend. I'd like to repeat, but they are shut for the summer to renovate.

I've looked through various travel sites to find something similar, but I only really seem to come across either "spa resorts" (i.e. a pool or two, but mainly sauna and beauty focused) or public thermal baths (i.e. your hotel isn't on site).

What I'd really want is to be in a nice hotel, where I can put on my speedos (not really!) and bathrobe and walk down to some thermal baths (ideally with a bit of a view from outside pool) then walk back up to the room to get ready for lunch/dinner. Everything should be on site, I don't want to leave the hotel to get in a bus or car to the baths. Also, as mentioned before, I'm not bothered about sauna stuff, just looking for baths really.

I'll be driving there, so anywhere within 2-3 hours of Zurich is completely acceptable, in France, Germany and Austria also fine if within that sort of drive.

Thanks EF!

On site EV charging required too?

Depends how far it is and in which direction. If going East, then there aren't really superchargers to speak of, so charging at hotel would be helpful.

If going north into DE or anywhere in CH, then there are probably superchargers en route.

I can recommend Leukerbad, slightly dated but still very enjoyable.

Here, a comprehensive site of most thermal baths in Switzerland: http://www.swisstherme.ch/thermalbaeder.html

It seems like that is a public bath, with hotels round and about it, but they are not part of the complex?

Good question, also, there seems to be a different complex altogether.

Regardless, it seems that you're right though.

Scuol doesn't count then?

The Hotel has changed management and has a new name. It is now called Alpentherme. There is, however, a direct passage in the underground. I went there once a couple of years ago but that was still with the old management. Not sure if it's still the same but we had a nice weekend there. Might be worth to read a couple of the newer remarks on tripadvisor etc.

Just had another idea...what about Rigi Kaltbad? http://hotelrigikaltbad.ch/en/startslider-en/ as far as I know it's directly next to the pool and in the morning some hours are exclusively for Hotel guests. It looks very nice and modern but I have not been.

I don't know!

That's why I'm putting it on here, as we can all see the link (that has been in prev threads too) showing a list of Thermal Baths and Spas, but I was hoping I might get a personal recommendation based on my criteria above.

Grand Resort Bad Ragaz ( http://www.resortragaz.ch/grand-hote...er-suiten.html )

Rheinfelden SoleUno is nice. But if I take away the Sauna I am so sure if you will like it.

Or if do not mind a few charging stops in between: Rogner Bad Blumau.

We, too, loved Vals. We've been to Bad Ragaz twice but stayed in a hotel a short walk away from the Tamina Therme. We loved sloshing around in the water there, but also enjoyed a walk up to the Altes Bad Pfäfers and watched the fantastic new Tamina Bridge in various stages of construction. If you like that sort of thing, check out the pictures on the linked site under "Billdergalerien"

As far as I can see, not even the 'best' hotels are really linked to the Taminatherme. I might be wrong though.

Sole Uno looks nice, might just be the thing and only 50 mins drive from my apartment, lovely, thanks!

Better during the week though

Sole Uno is awesome but hardly qualifies as it is clearly just a day trip gig.

With an attached hotel

Sent them an email and asked if they have a direct bathrobe access and special opening hours for their guests.

They answered, that you have to use the general entrance to the thermal bath but you are free to walk around in the bathrobe. No special opening hours for hotel guests.

Now I am just not sure if the way from the hotel to the bath is covered or not.

This one is in germany just over the border... you can drop the speedos though in most of the spa area... has pools and is by the lake

...actually it is directly linked to the Grand Hotel. Prices there are possibly affordable for a Tesla owner but not for mere mortals unless someone else is paying. Very nice though.

While this is WAY over the top expensive even by Swiss standards...the outdoor pool is simply stunning. Lovely Hôtel...and nice hiking too...

My favorite in Switzerland. With a hotel attached
