What? Salk/Sabin 1961? March of Dimes?
The largest Polio outbreaks were in 1947 in the UK and 1952 in the US. Polio declined rapidly from 1955 (70 years ago) with the introduction of the Salk and later oral vaccines.
I got the sugar lump in the sixties and anither inoculation with a pistol where we were conveyor-belted in the hallway.
Are there any reports of increased numbers of polio in the US,
From a 2022 report published in AM&S, also appended in full. Somehow I don’t think this will go well…
“It appears that the rates of polio vaccination in the USA have declined in recent years and even before the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic to below 95% coverage and with the burdens, the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown on the healthcare service it seems that the vaccination rates are in decline threatening in a potential outbreak, especially after the arrival of a wild or even VAPP [10,11](See Fig. 1) and (Fig. 2). Therefore, the CDC has advised people to vaccinate their children and high-risk population to overcome the high-risk situation and maintain enough herd immunity [8,11]”.
Ouch!
The new CDC vaccine committe has voted to change the recommendation for MMR vaccine from 1 year old to 4
Also to split it into two doses
There are more steps to go through before it’s officially announced
That’s crazy - a three or four year old is quite likely to be in child care or otherwise mixing with other young children at that time so could easily get measles.
Compounded with the fact that a mother with a young child is the most likely to get pregnant around that time to produce a sibling.
If she catches measles from her child because of an immunity problem there’s a risk to both her and the unborn baby.
The Hepatitis B vaccine is another one that needs to be given at birth.
The most common reason for getting hep. B is from the mother whilst giving birth.
The vaccine for the baby prevents them getting it - if it is given, as it is now, shortly after birth.
Hep. B in a child can cause liver disease, cancer of the liver and death.
There are valid reasons for the current vaccination regime and they are based on science.
Mr. ex-junkie brainworm has been thwarted in his efforts to make children sick again…
I was two when I had measles, I caught it from my baby brother who was just three months old at the time.
We’d been to the village fête and my brother clearly picked it up from there and subsequently passed it in to me.
This was before the measles vaccine was introduced so measles was omnipresent amongst young kids at that time.
Luckily we both got over it pretty quickly but not everyone is so lucky.
Vaccines should be given as early as it is possible to do so in order to afford maximum protection.
My mother had diphtheria as a child, the weeks she spent in the isolation hospital are not something she would have wished on anyone.
And mumps can cause infertility in males, especially if they have it in teenage or adult age.
For young men past puberty one of the symptoms of mumps is orchitis, swelling of the testes and scrotum, which is extremely painful. Like being kicked in the balls every hour, morning and night, for up to three weeks.
Besides orchitis, complications can include meningitis, encephalitis, hearing loss, and rarely, pancreatitis
Nobody should wish this upon another human being, particularly your own kids.
There is no effective treatment of these symptoms and the only prevention is the MMR vaccine given in childhood.
Although the effectiveness of the vaccine for Mumps is 86–88% protection most people who are vaccinated and still get it experience much milder illness.
I know, I had it when I was over 30
I was on a business trip when it was diagosed 200km from home.
The doctor thought it was very funny and advised me to avoid bumps in the road when I drove home
It looks like Kennedy is going to announce a link between autism in children and pregnant women taking paracetamol.
There is really no evidence to support this supposition and definitely nothing which should define future healthcare practice.
The slight correlation which has been found in some studies could be for a number of reasons including older mothers more likely to need pain killers throughout the pregnancy and the higher incidence of autism in those mothers over forty.
The news are from 05.09.2025, nothing since then.
RFK Jr., HHS to Link Autism to Tylenol Use in Pregnancy and Folate Deficiencies
Paracetamol is widely used around the world. If something were really wrong, it should have been found by now. So far, only damage to liver with high doses.
The folic acid (folates) recommendation is curious because…it’s not wrong? Malnutrition leads to lower folates level in people, including pregnant women. Also obesity has an impact. Being overweight consumes the available foliates in the body. If pregnant women are overweight, there’s a higher chance of lower folates level, making the folic acid supplements a reasonable proposal.
These have been prescribed for pregnancies for over 60 years. Nothing new here.
They’ve been enriching foods in the U.S. since the 1990s, to make sure women get enough folic acid, before they even know they are pregnant.
Came across this old photo from 1910. The boy on the right was vaccinated as a child. They both caught smallpox at the same time.
Folic acid supplements is a must for all pregnant women, obese or not. Better to start at the planning stage already.
