I should probably make a bit more of an effort with that one - I used to be a massive fan. Not sure if I've ever heard better than the 2nd and 3rd albums.
Yep HTTT for me, particularly Myxomatosis which stands along with Airbag and Bones in the "Top 3 Radiohead songs that should have been released" list.
So far I'm liking In Rainbows really quite a lot...
I see where you're coming from re The Bends and OK Computer, I quite liked Kid A, struggled with Amnesiac but really liked Hail to the Theif, I would definitely recommend a few more listens
well i'm on my 4th listen of the day and its growing slowly, i think its definitely a slow burner for me this one

I listen to HTTT more but I think my favourite might have to be Kid A. It was such a defining album for me when I got it, I was quite young and hadn't experienced many varieties of music. I remember buying it the day it came out (I think I've still got the receipt and packaging it came in) and then discovering the hidden booklet in the jewel case and frowning over what it all meant.
The suprise came when I played it for the first time and it blew my mind.. it also really seperated the men from the boys (so to speak) amongst fans who 'got it' and people who dismissed it because it was so largely electronic.
Anybody know if Nigel Godrich had anything to do with In Rainbows?

Thom Yorke, singer and guitarist of Radiohead, has described In Rainbows to be somewhat similar to "OK Computer" in some ways. He has mentioned in the past that the upcoming album is more terrifying. According to Yorke, the lyrics conceptually deal with anonymous fear and things like that. Nigel Godrich, their long-time producer who has worked with them since 1995's The Bends, worked on "In Rainbows." However, in a spring 2006 recording session the band worked with producer Mark "Spike" Stent. It is unclear whether or not material produced during this period will make it onto the album.

Am liking In Rainbows, just starting 2nd listen through now. Silly me forgot it was available for download today as ordered it last week... and wasn't until read comments on here that remembered. Doh!
HTTT is prob my fave album since OK Computer. However never really got all the fuss about OK Computer don't get me wrong its a great album but I prefer The Bends.
I felt similar when I bought a limited edition EP of Fake Plastic Trees (always will be my fave Radiohead song) all of my friends were into Take That at the time and thought I was weird for listening to 'such depressing music' in their words

The Bends is just so brilliant, its really strong all the way through, but I think 'High and Dry' in particular is just fabulous.

I think Ok Computer managed to capture the mood of erm everything when it came out. The tone, feel and the lyrics all sat perfectly together.. it was one of the earliest albums that I owned and turned me onto real music (i.e. it started me on the dark path towards being the music nerd that I am today ).
I guess that thats not a the greatest explanation really. I guess I just want to say that the fuss is justified, in my opinion, but I got it not long after it came out and it only seems to be the past 2 or 3 years that magazines like Q have started bleating it being so great.. It's hard to have a balanced opinion when everybody keeps telling you that you should like it.
It got album of the year in Q in 97 I think...? And it's consistently been top of their "100 greatest albums of all time" for the past decade... (OKC that is)
The Bends is phenomenal, was my first Radiohead album. Personally I have a real soft spot for unreleased tracks so I guess my favourites would be Bones and Iron Lung, but High and Dry, Street Spirit and Fake Plastic Trees are all right up there.
I loved the Bends when it came out and played it to death but OK Computer was something else for me, its one of my all time favourite albums,
