Many would find it gross, but canned luncheon meat is a great winter warmer that's sure to chase away the tummy growls.
My idea of heaven when I come in from the cold is to fry up some sliced onion, beat up a couple of eggs, scramble them in a pat of butter (and the onions) with some chopped parsley or cilantro and small cubes of Spam. Eat it on toast!
The Greatwall brand from China is tasty. Used to stock up on that in Malaysia. Anyone knows a close equivalent here? (No, Fleischkaese is not it.)

I'm pretty sure I've seen Spam being sold somewhere, but I can't think where - Co-op maybe? Or Globus in Bellevue? I'll have a look next time I'm in town...
By the way, I realised where the phrase 'green eggs and ham' came from (other than Dr Seuss). Had sushi the other day and some of the fish or whatever little eggs were green.

Funny enough, I noticed corned beef on Migros' store shelf for the first time today. Since I spent a fairly healthy holiday season away from home and hadn't eaten corned beef for a year, I told myself I could afford it. I bought something resembling Spam at Denner one time, but it wasn't that good and it didn't come packaged with the iconic iron key. I don't pay much attention to Denner labels since they're often in German only, but I think the tin said Fleischkäse.
I was at Coop 2 days ago and they had something on their shelves that looked like the local version of Spam. It was in a can close to where Corned Beef is and I think it was called "Frühstücksfleisch" which translates to "breakfast meat."
I had it in the past and it's pretty close to Spam IMHO.

This morning, tried the "with ham" version (CHF1.50) of the Malbuner brand in Migros -- there wasn't much ham in it but the taste was quite similar. OK, now I need not eat luncheon meat again for another two or three months.

I think that what you're looking for is something like the stuff we used to get during my Swiss army "Rekrutenschule" about ten years ago. "Monkey meat", that's what we used to call it. Best use we could make of it was to see who could throw the furthest away . I can't remember if it had a brand name, but it used to come in a can and I believe it looked something like SPAM; don't know about the taste: I tried SPAM only recently for the first time, so it's hard to compare. I wonder if the swiss army still gives out this stuff... Anyway, taste is taste...
LOL. That takes me back to my schooldays in the UK when I was in the OTC (Officer Training Corps). I pretty much hated it, so the deal to escape was that I went on the Easter "Arduous Training" ventures, which involved camping in the snow and then starting out early in the morning to climb a mountain.
Breakfast was very important, as without it you won't get up that mountain. Here comes my hatred of porridge, and also cans of sausages in baked beans.
But if I see a can of baked beans with sausage in it, I will always buy it, especially if I am setting off to climb some hill.
