Where to buy English tea bags?

All this talk of Yorkshire Tea reminds me of that Monty Python sketch the "Four Yorkshiremen"

The Scene:

Four well-dressed men are sitting together at a vacation resort.

FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:

Aye, very passable, that, very passable bit of risotto.

SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:

Nothing like a good glass of Château de Chasselas, eh, Josiah?

THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:

You're right there, Obadiah.

FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:

Who'd have thought thirty year ago we'd all be sittin' here drinking Château de Chasselas, eh?

FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:

In them days we was glad to have the price of a cup o' tea.

SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:

A cup o' cold tea.

FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:

Without milk or sugar.

THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:

Or tea.

FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:

In a cracked cup, an' all.

FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:

Oh, we never had a cup. We used to have to drink out of a rolled up newspaper.

SECOND YORKSHIREMAN:

The best we could manage was to suck on a piece of damp cloth.

THIRD YORKSHIREMAN:

But you know, we were happy in those days, though we were poor.

FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:

Because we were poor. My old Dad used to say to me, "Money doesn't buy you happiness, son".

FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:

Aye, 'e was right.

FIRST YORKSHIREMAN:

Aye, 'e was.

FOURTH YORKSHIREMAN:

I was happier then and I had nothin'. We used to live in this tiny old house with great big holes in the roof.

Of course it goes on....

Shame on all of you. Lyons Green Label tea is the only tea you should be discussing.

Lyons = Golden Nectar of the Gods

Barrys = MUCK

The rest arent even worth discussing

Not the original, but still very good

Indian shop at ZH-Manesse platz has PG tips.

Compared to me, they had it lucky!

For those of you in Zug, the indian shop behind Macdonalds on Baarerstrasse has 300 PG tips bags for 16chf.

Hello, you can buy all sorts of tea at COOP if you have one where you live, thats where i found my favourite from my home country, ROOIBOS cape town, try it, but its quite special, the taste... Hope you find what your looking for.

I couldn't agree more, but sadly it seems to have taken over the world. No matter where one goes the disgusting combination of Lipton's Yellow Label and not-boiling water masquerades as tea.

I usually end up just drinking the water.

Go to Aldi and find the Ceylon Schwarztee Mischung, this is my UK tea substitute and I am very fussy about my tea! CHF 0.84 for 50 tea bags if memory serves me right. http://www.englishforum.ch/daily-lif...bstitutes.html

Good to meet you today, sorry it was only short, so please tell us how many PG.TIPS did you buy

Coop sells Twinings 'Irish Breakfast Tea', which I bought recently for some friends visiting from Ireland (I'm Irish too). They thought it was ok but not a patch on Barry's (I'm a rooibos drinker myself so wouldn't know the difference)...

I did find the packaging quite funny. It says "The Irish really love their tea and are amongst the most frequent drinkers of tea in the world". This tea was created "in celebration of this tea drinking tradition"...

Talk about over the top!

I've only skimmed this thread, frequent mentions of that other northern county to the east of the proper one putting me off reading in detail, so I apologise if it has already been mentioned, but the London Store in Zug sells PG Tips in big boxes. They also sell Vimto, which always makes me very happy indeed.

Not as happy as a free packet of Love Hearts, mind, but you don't get those every day, do you?

PM me your address, and i will send you something in the post (bet you can`t guess what it is)

OP did you have a nice cup of tea this morning.

I second that. Avoid it like the Plague.

I survive with the Coop - Twinings English Breakfast. Not a bad cuppa.

Will have to checkout the ones at Aldi mentioned earlier as well though.

A horses head?

Have you tried http://www.timefortea.ch/ ?

Try this shop in Niederdorf: http://www.schwarzenbach.ch/

Fantastic place. Their coffee beans are wonderful, and tea selection is quite broad.

Agreed but once I discovered I could order Nambarrie's online and get a 1000 or so delivered for a tenner I was sold.

Reminds me of my undergrad days in Queens....

Finally, research proving something I've always wanted to hear

And if anyone out there can disprove this, I've really appreciate it if they wouldnt tell me and ruin my comfort bubble.
