Will we get an energy crunch from the Iran conflict?

I mean, can’t they just…get all excavators in the hemisphere and dig out that piece of land?! Trump wanted to nuke tornados, why not that?

Maybe they can have some of the escor…influencers…cheering up the workers?

Autobahn gas stations are far more expensive than regular ones, 30-50 Rappen is common IME.

The pricing might be even more crazy close to the border,. Correct me if I’m mistaken but this station in Coldrerio is just 4km from the border.

Japan has released, from its domestic reserves, 15 days’ worth of oil consumption for April. An additional 20 days’ worth will be released during May, this has just been announced.

Japan’s reserves cover ~250 days of its oil consumption.

That’s quite impressive and surprising. I had no idea they had so much. I think China has only 120 or so days (but obviously in barrels this is much more).

Only ~60% of the reserves are governmental stockpiles, strictly speaking. The balance, some 100 days worth, is jointly owned and, apparently, what’s in-transport and/or being processed. It looks like the release includes the lowering of the minimum reserves for the private part, with the expectation (or agreement?) that the balance does get released.

At least that’s what I gathered when I lookid it up last week.

Yes, it is the Coldrerio station in the north direction.

They learned their lesson when the US embargoed their oil supply prior to Pearl Harbour and why is it that whenever there is trouble in the world it’s allways the US as the root cause?

Luftansa announced grounding of 27 of it’s planes because of high fuel prices (and also possibly because of the looming shortage of jet fuel).

benzin is running out. stock up your cellar now before its too late.

Kerosene is also running out.

Edelweiss has announced flight adjustments for Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, Muscat and Salalah.

Germany has dropped fuel tax enough to get 17ct down at the pumps.
And you know things are getting tough when Germany drops tax.

Can i may be also recommend stocking up the fuel enrichment additive, if the fuel will be stored ‘at home’ for some time?

And perhaps also take into consideration approved storage containers, fire and fume hazard considerations, local rules and regulations around storing fuel and your insurance terms and conditions (haushalt, home owner/renter, etc?)

Completely counterproductive. The response to decreasing supply which is pushing up prices is to try to maintain demand causing more supply shortage that will eventually push up prices further?

Not just Germany btw. Austria, Italy, Spain…there’s a long list

Not only that the governmens has proposed plans for employers to pay 1000€ to the employees as a relief.
It is getting to the point where people will start looking for a strong leadership instead of the current crop.

That’s curious. Football WC games will be played in Seattle, even quarter finals.

And, KLM announces some adjustments to the London and Düsserdolf links: low occupancy and higher fuel costs made us cancel a few flights:

KLM has made a number of adjustments to its flight schedule for the coming month. This concerns a limited number of flights within Europe that, due to rising kerosene costs, are currently no longer financially viable to operate. There is no kerosene shortage. KLM will operate 80 fewer return flights to and from Schiphol, which is less than 1% of its European flights during that period.

Passengers affected by these changes will be rebooked onto the next available flight. As these are destinations KLM serves multiple times a day — such as London and Düsseldorf — travellers can usually be accommodated quickly.

KLM expects a busy May holiday period and is making sure passengers can travel to their holiday destinations as planned.

I guess we’ll see more flight cancellations soon. If the flight is full, it’s profitable, go ahead. Not full, we’ll place you on the next one…until the next one is full.

It really boggles me that every time we have a supply crisis we make it worse by subsidizing demand. I get it, it doesn’t make sense until you look at it as a political goal not something that solves real problems. Which in a nutshell is the whole problem with politics.

At least if you’re going to subsidize, just give people cash instead and let them use it on alternatives.

This video gives a good summary on what it takes to reach a peace deal.

Probably already discussed, but as reported today,

I’m quite surprised by how complacent governments have been about this.

For myself, I filled the car fuel tank and topped up the oil heating at home so that we have enough heating oil for the next winter.
