Will you vote in the European elections on 9 June?

Political violence of all colors is the problem, not the media. There rightly is an outcry because this is unacceptable.

Woosh!

Look, everyone can be the asshole they want to be as long as they stay non-violent. I merely wanted to encourage everyone who can to vote.

I interpreted it that way too. Seriously, thank you again.

Strange, as your last post seemed to indicate it was a strictly right-wing populist problem.

Is there really anywhere with a mainstream radical left party which is advocating policies that are anywhere near as abhorrent as some of those espoused by the right?

I couldn’t have put it better myself.
Further, a logical person might wonder why the outcry is suddenly so big now after a SPD politician was attacked… Despite the fact, as shown, AFD politicians have suffered the most violent poltical attacks for the last few years.

It’s the same at both ends of the political spectrum, though. Extremists at one end of the political spectrum say mad stuff which gets the opposing swivel-eyed extremist lot predictably swinging their handbags in response. Hurties and boo-boos to follow.

Plus Ƨa change…

Your table up there happily shows that the middle ground lot don’t really get punched. There’s a lesson in there somewhere. :slightly_smiling_face:

Vote, don’t whinge.

More unlimited immigration and declining living standards!

(jk, I’m not EU and cannot vote)

But an immigrant nonetheless…

I’m the good type though

White, Western European, you mean?

(I don’t know you, so forgive me for impugning your heritage if you’re not),

Seriously, I recall early on in my Swiss experience getting this impression from some Swiss people. They’re all (I don’t mean all Swiss people) anti-immigration, but are quite happy to exclude Brits, French, etc. - even Americans - from their list of undesirables, with their ā€œantiā€ feeling mostly limited to darker-skinned people, or perhaps more recently Eastern Europeans in general, regardless of actual skin pigmentation.

Which is why I’ll never accept any anti-immigration campaigner claiming that they’re not racist. Yes. They are.

Are you seriously commenting on that post? lol
And someone tried to accuse me of not having a sense of humour or something,

You might just infer from the ā€œseriouslyā€ that the previous bit was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. As was the post to which I was replying, in a similarly sardonic tone, or at least so I thought.

Indeed, it’s difficult with humour on this forum. Alas, the Swiss are happier to include the Germans on their list of ā€œundesirablesā€.

Anyways, that’s no-where to what this thread is all about. Those of you who can vote, please do vote.

Possibly.
I don’t quite know how the good immigrants are separated from the bad eggs. Maybe they believe some fit in better than others?

That’s your choice. However I’m absolutely against the immigration without any selection criteria which leads to current general immigration backlash. I’ve expressed this opinion before, but Europe should accept immigrants if 1) they have skills which we lack AND/OR 2) there’s a genuine concern for their life at home because of their sexual orientation, political beliefs, etc.

Accepting uneducated males with no language skills was always a recipe for disaster.

Like so many things, immigration is slightly too complex to be a simple ā€œproā€ or ā€œantiā€ topic. I thought that much would have been clear in a forum of foreigners.

But this over-simplification is of course an inherent problem when complex positions have to be shortened to a catchy campaign slogan. I always shake my head when I see posters from far-left to far-right claiming they are ā€œFor prosperity. For peace.ā€ Yeah, who isn’t?

But the more important question is who will vote in the eurovision contest this weekend?

Moi, non plus.
