Working as a dentist in Switzerland

Hi,

I'll finish dental school this summer and I'd like to move to Switzerland to work as a dentist and also to study dental surgery at Univerity of Geneva.

Firstly, I am from Romania and I really want to know if swiss people will accept me.

Secondly, I want to know how hard it is to find a job as a dentist in Geneva.

I have very good grades in school and I'm fluent in romanian, english, french and italian. I have a green card for United States.

My girlfriend will come with me. She is a dental student as well.

Thank you

Thank you--

Thank you

-Adrian

First check with the Red Cross what needs to be done to get your degree recognized.

Then get rid of the green card, unless you want to pay taxes to the US as well and have issues opening bank accounts and things like that.

Will people accept you? All depends on you and how good you are.

I think you have it all figured out...

Just mill over it for a little while and I am sure the angle will come to you.

Social networks my friend.

And 1 step at a time. That is the key here. Let them get to know you, if you have time.

Good luck, is not allowed in on this one. Remove luck, chance and take those small solid steps here.

Learn the culture well of your target market.

Hi ,

I am a dentist from India . I finished my B.D.S and now doing my masters in orthodontics (will finish my masters by July ). I am moving to Basel by end of December. I would like to work as an orthodontist in Basel .I am aware that i have to go through the Swiss dental council exams and learn German . But when i visited the dental council website of Switzerland the whole website was in German and i couldn't understand the procedure . Can some one help me with procedures i have to follow to work as an orthodontist in Basel .

Thank you

Unfortunately, lean German first?

Thank you for the spontaneous reply . I am starting my German classes from June end . I will be finishing A1 and A2 by December . I was looking forward that if i could know the procedure, then i can start preparing for that also soon.

thank you

How about using google translator for a first glimpse? Or just let it be translated through a professional service who is aware of the terminology.

I ́d reckon you need to be on a level that is required for university entrance, which I think is C1.

Yes it is C1 or C2. I will be continuing my German classes once i am there in Basel. Thank you.

Google translate. Hmm.. Lemme try that.. But dont know about the whole website.. Probably i cannget someone here to translate it for me.. Thank you

I think the level of German required is the level when you can read and understand that website

Why would somebody from EF go through that hassle for free? Maybe you find somebody with orthodontic problems and you will operate her/him for free for doing the translation.

That would be awesome..

The official requirement is actually C1 or C22

Uh oh, nope, he is not allowed to practice here

I can as soon as i get my license..

Which will be unlikely unless you get fluent in German, French or Italian and understand what the requirements are?

I didn't bother reading it all but this might help?

(google is your friend, mate )

C22? Blimey

It’s not the Red Cross.

Doc cool, you won’t be moving anywhere in Switzerland without a pre-approved job offer from a Swiss employer. Plain and simple fact of life. The non-EU hiring criteria is quite strict.

True

Oops. I meant C2

Thank you.. It was quite helpful

Thankyou my friend. I am moving to Basel because i am getting married. My fiancé is working for a company there in Basel. He is not that fluent in German unfortunately.

Well, that will make things a little easier, but until your language skills are up to speed I don’t think you’ll be able to practice as a dentist here. Check with MEBEKO what the requirements are.
