Eurovision 2025

If you didn’t take it seriously, this thread wouldn’t have been dominated by Brits, English and UK-ers who keep on saying “it’s not important…”

No, of course it’s important. It’s just not serious. It’s hilarious, camp OTT stuff that has a huge build up, is on all evening on the telly and loads of people have Eurovision parties to watch it.

The earnest debate is actually adding to the hilarity, to be fair…

Ah, ok, now its important, but not serious. This I agree with. But the UK, England and Great Britain seems to be split again. You believe its important, a bunch of your island-mates above seem to disagree.

Oh noooo! Independent thought… The islanders are revolting…

Isn’t this the whole point of TV? Important but not serious? Football, infotainment posing as journalism, soap opera…series. There’s nothing serious on TV, ever.

By “England” many people actually mean UK. I suppose it’s annoying for the Scots or the Welsh.

Nobody said it wasn’t important, it’s an important event for entertainment purposes but it’s not taken seriously.
There’s a big difference between importance and seriousness.

C’moooon, why did you spoil it so quickly?! It was soooo entertaining to see them triggered and argue that an entertainment show which was designed to be “not serious” was not serious. Well, fun is over

Now we have to wait for the Euro cup to see that it too is “not serious” and “not important”

Top contributor to thread talks about others being triggered. :+1:

So is this meant to be important, serious or hilarious?

Er excuse me but we stopped using the GB sticker ( by rights they should all be UK stickers ) on cars travelling to the Continent, as it disgruntled & excluded the Unionists from the DUP in Northern Ireland. Who campaigned so hard for their part of the United Kingdom to be included in all things that Great Britain participated in - including the ESC.
Although saying that the British Olympic Association has rebuffed all calls to rename “Team GB” as “Team UK” despite complaints from some Unionist politicians from Northern Ireland.

Who said Eurovision is not…political?
I guess that would trigger quite a few on this forum, nonetheless…(personally I don’t have any opinion on this issue)

BTW, 3 years ago Italy won Eurovision and European Championship in the same year. I wonder how Swiss team performs in EURO 2024.

The question remains what the future contestants will be (well, “perform”) to overdo this year’s winners? I can think of a few ideas but I’m afraid the reality may trump my imagination

The what? In a thousand years the archeologists will dispute whether UK was a colony of US or of India

I believe there will be many non-binary performers next year.

If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking let’s hope the reality will not trump our imagination… :joy:

Very interesting. Sadly, the video is only a few seconds of the music. Old organs are soooo metal.

The winning Swiss entry in the Eurovision Song Contest is now also available in an organ version. It was developed by the organist of the Biel City Church, Age-Freerk Bokma.

Bokma played “The Code” on the evening of Pentecost Sunday at a queer service in Biel. The background is a bet that Bokma made during the public viewing in downtown Biel for the ESC, as he told the Keystone-SDA news agency. The Dutchman promised that if Nemo won the competition with “The Code,” he would play the song on the organ.

He particularly liked the many musical quotes in “The Code,” says Bokma. He referred, among other things, to echoes of Bizet’s “Carmen” or Mozart’s “Magic Flute”. The operatic nature of the song can easily be translated for the organ.
